OK, so when my hubby and I were making our guest list, his mom's friends (a couple that my hubby and I know through his mom), asked if we can invite their daughter and her fiance. I have met one time and my husband has met her three times. Neither of us has met her FH. We thought about it and as a favour for his mom, we agreed. They are getting married on June 23 and they wanted to see what our wedding was like..........
Anyways, so we get their RSVP back to our wedding and they are coming, as we already knew. About two weeks prior to our wedding, we get an invitation to their wedding and feel that since we are friends with her mom and dad, we'd go to their wedding.....and they WERE coming to our wedding...........so we sent our RSVP in.
So anyways, in the end, they never showed up to our wedding. They never called to cancel or anything. Her parents came though......her mom told me that her daughter couldnt' come becuase she had her bridal shower on that day I was surprised and mad that she never showed up after her mother asked us to invite them, and asked her how long the shower was planned for and if her daughter knew about it, thinking that maybe it was a surprise shower?????
Her mom said she has known about it for over a month...........
So I am VERY bothered by this and dont' want to go to their wedding.......as I said, we don't really even know them. My husband thinks we should go, not eat the food and just drink as much as possible or double fist it. His mom says we should snub their wedding as they did ours.........I agree.
What would you do in this situation......

That is so TACKY! the least they could have done is have her mom tell you that she cant come! GEEZE! I would not go to their wedding, they do not deserve your presence or your present! lol!

I would not go to her wedding....OR tell her in advance! That is ridiculous! People have no concept of what weddings cost and have no regard to that fact.

Yah, I really don't want to go! UGH! I really need to let my hubby read these replies.......so he can see that I have a right to be upset........
You would think, being a bride herself, she would understand, right?

Re: Need help and honest opinions about a situation
Sorry, but she knew about her shower for over a month and still RSVP'd yes to your wedding... that's just wrong - worse is that they were no shows so you probably lost $$ since their plates were already paid for.
I would NOT go to their wedding. You're not friends with them anyway and they didn't bother to come to your wedding or to TELL you they weren't coming ... I would not go.
Now, whether or not you let THEM know that you won't be going is up to you!

Exactly!! being a bride to be she should be more understanding and realize that this is money that is being wasted...I would expect this from someone who has no idea what goes on during the wedding process..but for someone who is currently planning her own wedding to pull something like this...well, thats just crazy...

I would skip the wedding, but send them a message that you can't come. They may be rude, but you should show them that you aren't, that you know better.

How inconsiderate of her. She of all people, being a Bride herself should have known better than that. I would not even waste my energy on them by attending their wedding. Sorry you were placed in this situation.

I agree. I would send them a note, email or give them a phone call to let them know.......atleast we would have the respect to let them know that we can't make it BEFORE they pay for our plates! UGH! Some people!
My husbands issue is he feels it will be awkward when we are around her parents (we tailgate with them sometimes). I told him that if they want to confront us about not going, then let them. I am more than willing to let them know, in a nice way of course............

My thoughts exactly. Don't go and save your money but I would let them know you aren't attending. Be the bigger person.

Just don't go, why make your self sick by drinking too much. That really was not a nice thing for them to do.

Re: Need help and honest opinions about a situation
I am with your MIL. I would not show up that is so rude! How can her mom have asked if they could come or at least not notify you and thank you for inviting them?! It makes no sense? It is rude, and inconsiderate.
