NEED HELP ASAP

I am getting married in May 11, 2012. the only problem is that i have NOTHING planned. We want to have a civil wedding ceremony now because it is going to be the only time we can have our families together since i am from Colombia and he is Canadian. we have had to put a lot of effort to be able to have a common ground here in LI for a simple family ceremony. It is going to be 20 people and we wanted a city hall event to make it easy and affordable (we are poor students). I don't know where or how to get a place like this. Every piece of advise will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Oooh, okay, there could be alot that would need to be done depending on how wedding-y you want to go, otherwise I would consider this a get together rather than a wedding. it might take the pressure off. I'm assuming that you want somewhere for everyone to eat afterward, there are a lot of places that have private rooms that aren't too expensive. I would not worry about favors, flowers, etc. I would ask a friend to take pictures for you.

The first question is... what town are you getting married? I'm sure a of ladies have suggestions for a reasonably priced place to eat around your area. Most 'party' options include a cake, so you're good there.

Second - Your attire! You're lucky because it's prom season. Lots of department stores will have gowns and formal dresses on the rack. You could also look at Estelle's for some reasonably priced options.

Get your make up done at the MAC counter in Macys the morning of!

Third on my list would be photography, It's a special day and you want to remember it. Since you're a student - I'd put out an ad or ask around to see if anyone knows photography student on campus who would take pictures for you wedding. All you need is a disc of the photos and you can make your own album on snapfish whenever you want to.

It's too late for invites - just call :)

If you want a bouquet, call the florist and see if they can make one for you on that day. Or you can make your own! http://video.about.com/weddings/Make-a-Wedding-Bouquet.htm

If you want to decorate, I'd recommend something affordable and easy, like candles. They can be very elegant and affordable if you use a coupon. I wouldn't worry about this if you can't decorate though. It's not the most important thing.

Good luck!

Also, LI weddings has great info on getting a marriage license. I don't know what the policy is for getting married at city hall though.
