I just added an MC to my DJ package and didnt tell my FH until after I did it. Now he is upset with me b/c he didnt want one and thinks they will be annoying. How can I convince him that having an MC is a good idea? TIA

Re: Need help convincing FH to get an MC
often times they help with the organization of the wedding, imo. they tell guests when to dance, they let guests know what is going on, etc. we are using an MC, but I hate cheesy MC's, so I was sure to add one that is low-key.

You HAVE to get an MC otherwise you might-as-well just play your own music. My DH didn't want an annoying MC either, so I made it very clear that he did not want the MC dragging anyone on the dance floor or being 'MCish'. We also requested that they not play YMCA, Chicken Dance, Macarena, or Last Dance. DH hates these songs so I honored his wishes. I communicated this to the MC and he did as I asked.
Just tell him what you want and he'll do it. Tell FH that without the MC you may not have as lively a crowd as you would hope for. Someone needs to organize and that is what the MC does.

This is SOOOO not true. We hired one person who acted as both the DJ and the MC. He did all the announcements, got people to dance, led the electric slide and the YMCA. Music is all done by computer anyway...one person can load up a song, push play and announce things. My DJ coordinated everything perfectly with the Banquet Manager and there were no problems. If you hire a quality DJ they can also act as an MC. We used FM Entertainment and Frank was amazing.

I was just at a wedding this past weekend that had an MC and he was awesome - he really got the crowd going and kept the dance floor packed all night!!
