Re: Need help desperately!!!!

Opinions are nice but you can make yourself nuts. Sit down with yourself and decide on whats important to you and how would you like your perfect reception place to be.

Then go from there. Your choices have all gotten many nice reviews.

Re: Need help desperately!!!!

excellent advice wacky...

its all personal preference...there are 'wars' between the Flowerfields and Land's End brides (friendly of course) on which Lovin Oven establishment is better...it depends on your taste...

Russo's has a great view of the harbor...but the front is on a pretty unattractive street...no offense to any Russo brides...but my vet is 1/2 a block away and its a pretty busy Queens street...just a fact...(I know NOTHING of the inside...never went in and remember there are places that once you go in you are transformed and don't realize the street - ie Westbury Manor)

the Carlyle must be gorgeous now since the US Open (I looked at it before)...is your family golfers? that might be a great place...

I don't know much about the other two...

when you invision your wedding that will help you decide a time and place...do you see water? trees? flowers? foliage? NYC skyline?

theres something out there for everyone in every price...

I know nothing of those sites, but I just want make sure you don't get turned off by this board b/c of Ronnieandtheresa's post to you. As you probably know, it's a great place to help you plan your wedding and meet other brides.
Good luck with your decision!

I live where I am getting married and I don't think in any means that I am RICH and nor do I like when someone insults where I am getting married!

R&T:

When you posted 'Maybe before you talk about things you don't know what you are talking about yuo should call the actual catering hall and make an aptt!' Who were you talking to?

The reason I said that is because yours was the only rude post on this thread that I can see what sweetnessconfused would be referring to.

I've been to Russo's, Carlyle and The Garden City Hotel. All three have great service and are fine halls - - but - - look wise I love GCH and the Carlyle, food-wise Russo's and GCH - - MO I would pick Garden City Hotel late August/early September so you can use fall colors that you like.

NEW POST Re: Need help desperately!!!!

I live right near Russos, but rich I am not! Which is probably why I'm moving! I don't know how true it is, but I overheard a conversation in a local restaurant that there is an 18-month waiting list for a Saturday night. I've only been to one wedding there and it was very nice but I've had just as much fun at weddings held at less-expensive places. Great choice of food. It's really all a question of your priorities. If you want to wow your guests with the food selection, then you can't go wrong. If you would rather have impressive grounds and a beautiful view, then you might not like it.

Maybe she should go into the place before she bashes it and how do you know how expensive it is..

That is all I said.. Call the place!!!

Re: Need help desperately!!!!

sweetnessconfused,
I'm having my wedding at the Bourne in September. I don't know much about their food since I have yet to taste it, nor do I know of anyone who is a Lessing's bride. It may sound funny, but food wasn't a priority for us. After some discussion, my FH and I felt that most people don't attend weddings expecting a great meal like they would find at a high end resteraunt. As for why we did choose them, well it was related more to the location. I didn't want to have my wedding somewhere that was built with catering & receptions in mind. The Bourne Mansion just had an 'atmosphere'. My FH and I walked in and went 'Wow!' Our hopes are that our guests will do the same.

Other priorities:
-only 1 wedding at the location.
-multiple rooms
-indoor/outdoor cocktail & reception (the waterview doesn't hurt! )

I don't believe she was bashing at all...she was offering an opinion. People like different catering halls for different reasons.

Re: This is the post

R&T - You are the one who said it is in the 'richest area of Queens.' She said she lives BY it and 'rich I am not.' That is why she said she is moving. Reread the posts. There was no bashing.

Re: Need help desperately!!!!

R&T - I think it was just a misunderstanding. I think Rox was responding to your response to Sonicstef that Russo's was in the richest part of Queens. I don't think she meant any offense.

Edited to say: I'm with Helene on this!!

Theresa,
Everybody is entitled to their opinion. You may not agree with it, but that doesn't make it wrong or insulting.
