If there are any pug owners out there, I need your help! I need to know how to drain my pug's anal glands! LOL
I know this is DISGUSTING but it happens to pugs a lot - their butts start to smell fishy and their anal glands need to be drained. It is safe to do at home, but I just don't know how. My vet showed FH but he is not home right now and I realllllly can't stand it much longer!

you really just have to push on his butt where you see a bump. that should at least help!

IDK i don't have a pug but my dog has the same problem. We wont dare attempt it at home, my vote is bring him to the vet to be drained!!!! You dont want to go poking around up there

LOL I know!!! That's originally why we brought our other pug to the vet - we just couldn't find the spot and were like OK we are DEF not going further to look!
Our problem is that we live in Huntington but we really LOVE our vet in Mt. Sinai so we never switched and it's SUCH a long drive just for some two second butt drainage!

My pugs anal glands have to be squeezed about once a year and me and fh will not even attempt to do it. Bring it to any grooner and they will do it for you, even petco. Good luck, they can be stinky

you can take him to a groomer they do that
OR you can do what i did last week our cat had what I call a 'poopy butt' aka she was a little dirty in that area, so I attacked her with a baby wipe
OMG the most vial smelling liquid shot all over me, the bed, my new sheeeets yup, it was her anal glands. I scared the shhit out of the poor baby (almost literally )
now i call her skunk buttt

lol they did a segment on this on the show DIRTY JOBS
it's really not that hard, it happens to most dogs, but most people don't realize it...
there should be a bump near his butt. that's the gland. you just squeeze it gently (do it in a tub or a sink not on your carpets or while wearing nice clothes lol) it should work...
it's worth it to at least try, you won't hurt him.

I TRIED! My dog was literally like NO WAY! I even tried to distract him with sweet potato chips and he still wouldn't let me! He let his tail uncurl and act as a butthole shield!

is he really smelly? i would suggest wrapping him in a towel (thats the only way we can cut our cats nails) try it that way ... he wont be able to squirm away
OR take him to the groomer. There is a great one in Seaford, on Merrick Rd. Its right next to the Seaford Cinemas
