I am recentely engaged and my finace and I want a small, i guess, non-traditional wedding. We want to get married outdoors, preferably on a beach and for the reception we want more of a restaurant style. Anyone have any ideas how I can find a place like this?
a bride here is looking at a ceremony at Planting Fields. It looks amazing.
After that, you could look into smaller waterside restaurants.
How far east do you want to go?

Thanks!! I will look into them... I actually came across the snapper inn in one of my searches. We are willing to go all the way out east, that doesn't matter to us. We are also willing to have the small dinner party reception elsewhere. My finance does have his hearts set on the ceremony being on the beach, thats seemingly the difficult part.

Sans Souci is in Sea Cliff. It overlooks the beach and is one wedding at a time. It is smaller and they can do the ceremony outside. We had our engagement party there and it was great!

You should definitely look into Gurney's Inn. It's in Montauk but well worth the trip! We had our wedding there last year and it was perfect. Our ceremony was right on the beach in the sand overlooking the ocean. We then had an outdoor cocktail our (again, overlooking the ocean), an indoor reception and then a 3 hour bonfire (afterparty on the beach). It was so different from ANY wedding we've EVER been to and all our guests had an amazing time because everyone felt like they were at a destination wedding without having to fly anywhere! Re: Need help finding a place
Just came back form a wedding at the Queens County Farm Museum - it was sooo beautiful! Very non-traditional and on the smaller side. It reminded me of something out of Martha Stewarts DIY weddings.
