NEED HELP FOR A FRIEND-- DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DYING FLOWERS??????

Do you know how much dye and which flowers that this works best with? Does anyone possibly know anything about this at all?

I know I used to get dyed carnations at dance recitals.

I saw on 'For better or For Worse' they dyed roses blue.
They cut the stem & put it in the dye, and it soaks it up that way. I think you just use food coloring & water, like the celerey experiment in 2nd grade.

Thank you, do you remember if they put the flower in the dye or it soaked it through the stem?

When I went to a florist for the wedding, they suggested not dying the flowers for a wedding b/c they don't look natural and sometimes don't come out good.

Thanks Nora, they are not for someone's wedding, it's for a block party, so I guess it is ok if they don't look that good--lol. But I will tell her that too.

Thank you!!

I had heard the same recommendation against dying flowers. I had wanted blue roses, but was convinced to go another route. My mom had a bouqet of roses dyed blue for my shower and they were gorgeous. Unlike what I was told they didn't rub off or fade and they were a full deep blue color, no white on the roses. The veins of the flower were a purple color.
The only florist she found that was willing to do it though was Selden Florist, she said they were expensive, but the service was great, she paid for 1 dozen and they gave her 2 dozen.
