NEED HELP FROM BRIDES WHO HAD THEIR WEDDING AT THE VENETIAN YACHT CLUB ALREADY!
ok so I just went to look at the VYC and i LOVE IT. But, my mom is really hesitant to book it because of these reasons: 1. we would have our cocktail hour in the small room on the first floor adjacent to the ball room on the first floor. My cocktail hour would start at 6:30, as the cocktail hour of another wedding is finishing up in the adjacent balroom. Then the cocktail hour in the room next to my cocktail hour room will be moving upstairs for their reception at 6:30 while my cocktail hour is starting at 6:30. We will then be moving into the room they were in for our reception at 7:30. So basically they willbe an hour ahead of us on everything, but they will be in the room next door and then traveling upstairs
2. the bridal suites are right next to eachother, and our guests may be running into eachother downstairs and i may run into the other bride down there
3. since we are in the 1st floor ballroom, we have the whole downstairs patio throughout the reception. the people upstairs have a little landing and then steps which lead down to our patio. I don't want their guests meandering down those steps to come hang out on our patio where my guests are.
So my question is: did any of you brides who got married at the VYC have problems with any of this? Did you feel like you were constantly bumping into people from th other wedding? did you feel like there was another wedding goig on at the same time as yours? or did you not even know the other wedding was there? Please share your experiences with me! I need to book soon!

HEy there...my best friend had her wedding there in the beginning of June...first let me tell you that we were not in the bridal area very long at all...short period of time before the reception to be exact...during this time the other bridal party was down there as well but it wasn't like we were walking into each other at all. We had a wonderful time during the reception as well...I don't think these concerns will be a big deal that night...Just my opinion though...hope you have a wonderful wedding...good luck!

I was at a wedding there a little while ago. The biggest problem we saw, was that the bridal party almost walked into the wrong party to be introduced! But that is very preventable. Otherwise as a guest, I didn't see anyone that didn't seem to belong, and wasn't confused at all. As a bride, I don't really want to see another bride, but the staggering will take care of that, and you shouldn't be in there often anyway.

I'm sorry but I am very against seeing another bride @ my wedding... It seems like it would be completely unavoidable here. I agree the place is beautiful but when me FH and I learned that there could be another party @ the same time we said forget it....the place is too small for two brides and two bridal parties!
Have you tried Chatue la Mere?? spelling? The view is almost identical and the rooms are similar, but you will be the only bride!
My favorite 2 bride place that I saw was East WInd because you will never see the other bride since the entrances are on completely separate sides and there is no way to get through without leaving the building!
HTH!

You also have to remember that with only an hour to convert the previous cocktail room into your reception room...everything may not be perfect, like flower placements, card table, ect....it also limits you to what you can use there, like if you wanted a photo booth or some other elaborate set up that needs to be done before your guests arrive....

I got married at VYC and I have nothing but positive things to say about the place. Unfortunately, if I were in the situation that you are, I don't think that I would book there. I had the whole place to myself that night with my CH in the ballroom downstairs and my reception in the room upstairs. I can't imagine how crowded it must get if there are two parties going on at one time. They are very efficient about getting things setup, but I don't think there is going to be any way to avoid guests running into each other. My guests didn't even realize that there was a landing on the second floor. Anyone who wanted to smoke was outside on the deck.
With all that being said, I still think that VYC is an amazing place to get married. The food is amazing and the service that we received was excellent. If Bill is able to dispell some of your fears then I might still consider it. Once you get to the reception portion of the evening you won't see the other bride at all.
Good luck with your decision and feel free to FM me if you have any other questions.
