need help from milleridge girls

Im so torn between the milleridge and one other location, maybe if u girls posted what stood out above the rest of the halls u had seen it could help me decide. I have not gone yet to c the hall which of course i plan on doing but i really want as much pre-info so im prepared when i go. for starters i will probably need the carriage room b/c i wont have more then 120 guests. i m extremely concerned about how the whole thing works with it being one room for the cocktail area and reception area. does that mean the ceremony is there too. and what is the atrium i keep hearing about?? lol and if i MUST have the cocktail hr outside how is it?? i dont want it to b tacky..does any1 know the price for a sunday or friday nite in april or july?? if any1 has pics i would love to see them also. please FM if u want or post

Which were you looking into- the Cottage, Carriage House, or the Milleridge Inn?

I had my reception at the Milleridge Cottage, which is where the atrium is...you can check out what I wrote in my review.

Any questions, let me know.

Re: need help from milleridge girls

April is cheaper than July (it's the last discount month). As far as pricing, I'm not positive because I'm in the Cottage so I'm not sure if that changes anything. FM tourist - she's in the Carriage House so maybe she can help you out with some info.

I love the Cottage (the atrium reminds me of the 'I am 16 Going on 17' scene in the Sound of Music, my all time favorite movie) but have not seen the Carriage House. I understand your concerns about having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception in the same room - I'm not even sure of how the logistics would work.

Overall, though, the reputation of Milleridge is incredible, which definitely swayed our decision. We liked 2 other places also but it was the reputation and their willingness to work with us that really made the decision, and those aren't things that will change from the Carriage House to the Cottage.

Good luck!!

The staff at the Milleridge is great & will totally be able to answer your questions about logistics.
The Carriage house is little & quaint & that’s what I was looking for, since we are only having about 80-90 people & are trying to keep it low key.

I liked the country cottage sort of feel to it.

They have the CH hour outside under a tent on a patio if it is above 65 degrees & not raining. They make the decision up to an hour before so you're not screwed if there is an out of nowhere storm or something.

If you have the ceremony there it is also under the tent, I saw a picture of it set up like that, but I’m not sure how they switch it around for the CH, since I am getting married in a church.. If the CH is in the hall, the tables are set up for the dinner & you just go up to the buffet & then sit at your table instead of random tables. I’ve been to other receptions like this, it was fine. They just move the buffet tables out when the reception starts.
The banquet staff at the Milleridge has a photo album so you can see how it is all set up. I have some pics from the website, but they aren’t great & don’t show a ceremony or CH.

As far as prices, it depends on the menu you choose.
For a Saturday night in October, for the 2 star menu ( which is on the website too) I am paying $65 a person plus tax & tip, I think. It comes to $81 including the tax & tip.
It was over $100 per person before tax & tip for the 3 star menu.

What other hall are you considering?

120 might be tight int he carriage house. They say it holds up to 120 or 130 & the minimum is 75.

ETA pics & to say that ddunne23 had her wedding in the carriage house in the winter, she may be able to shed more light on how the whoel thign works witht he 2 room, but I don't think she had her ceremony there.

I'm not sure about separate rooms. Franksbride got married ther ein december & had the ceremony there. You could do a search for her review. There are pics on the website too. Youshould call & ask about the minimums. They told me on the phone for the carriage house. The website says 100, but I think for weddings it is over 200.

I don't know if my experience is of any help to you but I will share what I do know.
I've never been to the Carriage House for weddings but we just had my daughter's shower there. It was fantastic. the food was excellent and the staff was quite attentive. We had 60 women and there was definitely room for another 60. I don't know if you are interested in room for dancing though. That might be tight.
As far as the staff accommodating you, they were superb. I cannot say enough about their willingness to let you do what you want. Our shower was to start at 1. I wrote 12:30 on the invitations and guests arrived as early as 11, brought in their gifts and strolled around the village. They all loved it. The girls and I were there from 9 in the morning decorating and making it really pretty and homey. We brought everything from candleabras, to silk floral arrangements for the fireplaces to bows, etc. for the tables. It was literally ours til 5:00. There are three bathrooms, one on the same floor which is handicap accessible, and two downstairs with a pretty and comfy bridal room as well as a coat room.

I originally booked a room in The Inn for the shower. Thank God for the girls on this site and they recommended the Carriage House to me. The Inn had restrictions left and right. We would have been allowed to go upstairs to decorate only ONE-HALF hour before and guests wouldn't have even been allowed to take their gifts up a minute early. The food is from a separate kitchen and not nearly as good. The Cottage and the Carriage House are run by different management and the difference is night and day. I was so upset with what I was hearing, I was prepared to lose my $500 deposit. Luckily they had the Carriage House available for the same day and time and they made the switch for me without a penalty.
If you need any further details, don't hesitate to FM me.
All the best.

that is so true- wahtever I ask, they have heard of it before & are very accomodating. I feel like there are things I am not even thinking of that I should ask them.

For a night wedding you can't go in quite as early, if the have an earlier one. They told me 6 30 for pictures & the CH starts at 7, but they are doing all the set up.

The Inn is a restaurant, so they probably need to have the room avaialable for multiple parties.

I've hear the food is good there (its been a while) so I'me xcited that the Carriage house/Cottage food is even better.I think you shodl consider the carriage hosue if you are INVITING 120. not all will attend, and then you won't have to wory about making a minimum, since its only 75.
