NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

hey ladies,
need my fellow 'cat-lics ' to chime in here
on the invitation
i'll list Saint Kilian of course for our ceremony
two questions...

one - i've seen a LOT of invites where 'saint' is not spelled out. but rather listed as St. how did you do it ????

two - should i list 'Saint Kilian's RCC' is that how it should read? or do I type out Roman Catholic CHurch...or do i leave it off? also - should I make 'Kilian' possesive like that....Kilian's?

god bless you my fellow brides

TIA

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

For my church, I actually went to their website to see how they are listed. It is a Roman Catholic Church, however, they seem to only use Corpus Christi Church, without the 'Roman Catholic' part so that is how I did it on my invites. I can't really answer the part about the 'Saint or St.' b/c my church doesn't have that in the title so I'm not sure what is more proper... sorry!!

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

I'm doing 'St. James Roman Catholic Church'

I've seen it abbreviated, but I like it better written out :)

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

I did not write Catholic Church. I just wrote Church of the Resurrection and left it at that.

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

I didn't list Roman Catholic Church and I kept St abbreviated

I said Nuptial Mass at St Thomas the Apostle

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

I spelled out Saint...I think it shows respect for the Saints...and gives the ceremony a formality about it.

I don't think it should be possesive. Saint Killian. as mine is Saint Agnes so when I think about it that way...Saint Agnes' would sound a bit funny and informal. mine is a cathedral so I typed out Saint Agnes Cathedral...but I suppose you could do

Saint Killian
Roman Catholic Church

or
Saint Killian Church

but I think I prefer the first because it lets your guests know what customs to expect as it tells them its roman catholic

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

We used our church's official name 'Shrine Church of Saint Bernadette' we didn't put Roman Catholic Church or RCC b/c i didn't feel it was needed.

Re: NEED HELP - Invites CATHOLIC CHURCH Question

I am writing:
The Church of St. Joseph
---------------------
check this out, i found it online:

* Write out names in full, including middle names. Omit a middle name if necessary, rather than using an initial.
* It's appropriate to use the British spelling for 'honour' and 'favour', unless you prefer to use the American spelling of these words.

* Use Roman numerals in names, rather than 'the third' or '3rd.'
* For ceremonies taking place in a house of worship, use 'request the honour of your presence.' Ceremonies taking place in a non-religious setting should say, 'request the pleasure of your company.'

* Spell out all words, including the hour, the date and the year. Spell out all words in the address, including Street, Road and Avenue. The two exceptions to this rule in an address are Saint (St.) and Mount (Mt.)
