I just got a call from my recruiter the other day and she is sending me on an interview tonite. The only problem is that I will 'hopefully' be closing on my house sometime maybe the beginning of august. The mortgage broker said its not really a good idea to switch jobs right now, the bank may have a problem with it, as i just started my current job about 4 months ago. The job i would be interviewing for is about 5 minutes from where my house will be, so it would be perfect for me to work so close!! And its more money! Should I tell them when I interview that I wont be able to start immediately, or should I tell my recruiter first and see what she says.. It sounds like a good opportunity, but I also dont want to stress myself out so much by starting a new job, moving and becoming a homeowner all at the same time!! What do I do???

Go on the interview...don't tell anyone anything, just see whether or not you get the job, good luck by the way...I doubt that it will really make that much of a difference with the bank...particularly if this job has a higher paying salary......

Go on the job interview. Get the job. Tell them you need to give 2 weeks at your current job - that brings you to August. Have your mortgage company verify employment as soon as possible.
I just verified employment for someone at our company. Today is his last day, but I confirmed his salary and that he is a current employee. No need to tell the mortgage company tomorrow he isn't an employee.

I agree .. go on the interview .. and let life run its course.
When we were going through our process several years ago .. my husband's job confirmed his employment and said he had a long, bright future with them .. shortly after, they let him go .. claiming they were going in a 'different direction.'
No way they didn't know this when they verified his employment!!!
I mean ... I'm glad they confirmed for us .. but just hated the way they treated him through the process .. they built him up to actually believing he had a long, bright future with them.
Anyway .. I'm just angry .. because it seems like too many companies are using 'different direction' as their reason for cutting people.
