I have not slept for 8 straight hours since I quit smoking in December. I am exhausted. Can anyone suggest anything other than a full blown sleeping pill?

Re: Need Help Ladies
benadryl. knocks you out!!!!
just take it about 1-2 hours before you want to go to sleep b/c it will take that long to kick in. but once it does you'll sleep straight through till the morning.

Re: Need Help Ladies
i find tylenol pm to work wonders. it's not strong like a real sleeping pill, but it definitely gets the job done.
good luck!

Lauren if s-x did anything to help me sleep for 8 straight hours I would get too much sleep!

I was going to suggest this. I used it once when I had to fly a red eye back from a business trip and be at a wedding at 11am that morning. It worked nicely!
ETA: A lot of the things like Tylenol PM, Nyquil, Benadryl, etc do help me sleep but, they always make me feel so tired the next day, the melatonin didn't!

Re: Need Help Ladies
OTC sleeping pills are terrible for me, as far as hangovers. I know you don't want an Rx sleeping pill but sometimes they can put you back on track. The usual dosage of Ambien is 10mg. I've gotten Rxs for 5mg and then broken the pill ih half. At 1/4 of the recommended dosage, I do GREAT. There is a bit of a high that goes with it, especially if you do not get right into bed, so I can see where people get hooked.

Re: Need Help Ladies
My husband quit smoking in January and swears that working out has helped. He went cold turkey. In the past he tried the patch with limited success. And he has actually lost weight since quitting. a perk :)
