need help- problem with SIL- now with a poll

my sister in law has been hush hush about her wedding since she got engaged last year. she only new the guy for 3 weeks and moved in with him and got engaged. She really did not give any details of the wedding until yesterday. 2 weeks ago she called to ask our availability since we have 8 weddings we have alot of showers, bacholarettes and weddings.
To make a long story short. she pick the day of my best friends bacholarette party which I told her specifically we had plans and are doing an overnight trip.

she said well I guess you will have to choose. I am so upset. I should just go to the bacholareete to spite her. this is a small wedding 30 people in a restaurant on a saturday. im want to scream. my best friend is really upset and thinks my sil is a b-t-h.

Thanks needed to vent. What do you think I should do.

That's tough. But I would go with the B-party. Is this woman your husbands sister?

yes its my sister in law. shes a trouble maker to begin with and very selfish. ive been planning the bacholarette with my best friends sister. we are going to the wineries and then renting a condo in montauk. and she knew that because I told her. She wants the wedding on the same day becuase thats the day she met him.

Oh gosh. This is a tough one. I only said the SIL because its family and you have to deal with her a lot and you don't want any conflict. I do feel bad about your friend though.

my rule of thumb has always been, go with wherever you made the first commitment

first come
first serve

Are you serious???? She FINALLY picked a date in the MIDDLE of all this other stuff? What's the date? You've had Kristine's party planned for a long time!

Well maybe you can meet up with the group before or after the wedding--depending on times...I would be flipping out too!

Corinne, where's the wedding? That's annoying. I still don't know if she's coming to Sarah's shower, I guess not, huh?

Where is the restaurant where the wedding will be and what time is it starting and ending?

Since I know how hard you worked on the BP, I'd go to the wedding for a few hours... show my face then get on the road and head out to catch up with the BP.
Since it's an overnight trip you'll still have time to enjoy it.

yeah being it's DH's sister makes it tougher, cuz you have his feelings and your IL's feeling to consider

it totally blows though and i would make that known

I would go to the BP...sorry but you had plans and she knew it. Personally, when I have to choose, I choose the person who I want to continue to have a closer relationship with.

TOTALLY agree, the only hairy thing here is it's DH's sister and you have to live with him

What does DH think about all this?

Same thing happened to me, I would go to the wedding..My friends RD was a friday night, BIL is in military and throws together a wedding in 2 months, to a girl he just met...My friend was pissed when i first told her, but it was a wedding vs. a wedding rehersal, so no matter the circumstance, the wedding IMO takes over..if I was up against 2 weddings on the same night, then I would have reconsidered and gone to my friends. Long story short, BIL cancelled wedding 3 days before and I went to RD anyway
