Need Help w/ Churches!

Hey Ladies,

So I really want to get married in a church next July. But the problem is that I live in Delaware right now and before that I lived in NJ- so I do not have a home church on Long Island. I know that most places will not let you get married in their church unless you use their pastor or are a member of their church.

My Fiance and I want to get married but our Pastor from our church in NJ but I need a church building to have the ceremony. Does anyone know of any church in Suffolk (preferably as close to west sayville as possible) that lets you rent just the church for a wedding and allows you to bring in your own pastor. My Fiance' and I go to a non-denominational protestant church now-so Im not concerned with the denomination of the church as long as we can bring in our own pastor to do the ceremony.

Please Help!!!

THANKS!
Kristin

I didn't have a church on LI either since I grew up in Westchester but we got married at a catholic church in Bellport and were married by a family friend that was not a priest at that church. So it can be done.

I'm getting married at a Catholic church in Port Jefferson that's not my home parish and they allow outside priests. Port Jeff is probably about 45 minutes, give or take a few minutes, from Sayville. But at least one of you has to be Catholic to get married in a Catholic church, so that may not work for you.

Here's a link to a list of Christian churches in Sayville that you could try calling! I don't know the requirements of the non-Catholic churches or you have to be a member to get married there, but it's worth a shot. Good luck!

We are getting married at The United Methodist Church in Babylon. Its not that close to Sayville but you can bring in an outside priest.

Depending on how many people you are having there is a small, and I mean small, church in Sayville that is owned by the town of Islip that can be rented for a small fee. When I say small, its very small though so if you're having a small wedding it would be perfect. You would have to contact the town of Islip to see exactly how many it would hold. Its the little white church on the bottom of this website.

I would also contact St John's Lutheran Church in Sayville. I don't go there but I have friends that do and when I was looking and had a similar situation they said they might allow it.

Don't bother calling St. Ann's in Sayville. I already tried and they said no even though my sister was married there years ago.

Here's the contact info for the churches in Sayville including St John's.

Does anyone know Catholic priests that marry outside of the church?

I don't know if they are allowed to. I think in order for it to be recognized by the church it has to be done inside of a church.
