Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

They do give you a blow dryer, but there wasn't an iron. You had to pay to have all of your clothes pressed so I would recommend packing carefully so that your stuff doesn't get wrinkled. Also, make sure that you pack an outfit for formal night.

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

I actually found a cool site online when I went on a cruise that told you what to bring, but unfortunately I don't have it anymore, do a search.

I do remember one key thing that helped us, we bought with us one of those long extention bars, since many rooms on the cruise ship only have 1 outlet with two sockets (I went on carnival). This helped tremendously!! We were able to plug in our phones, radio, digital cameras, etc.

We also brought our small computer speakers and ipod, to listen to our music.

remember of course to bring your bathing suit, I did bring a hairdryer, but they had one in the drawer which worked very well.

We had 2 formal nights, so we brought some nice dressy clothes with us.

Sweater or hoodies, on the chilly nights, since the inside of the ship is air conditioned.

I will try to think of some other things, if I remember, hope this helps!

We had a blast on the cruise.

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

Definitely bring something warm, something dressy, I brought sneakers and other athletic wear. Depending on the excursions you may want to bring tevas or some kind of shoes you can wear in the water, especially if you're going to be around coral.

I also brought Dramamine, pepto and tums. I don't typically get sea-sick, but there was no way I was going to risk it. Also make sure you bring sunblock and aloe. I'm sure you thought of this already, but my FH usually never burns, it wasn't that sunny and we were only outside and he was so burned he couldn't go in the sun for about 2 days.

FH and I took a cruise to Bermuda, and brought our own snorkel gear. It was easier than renting, and we brought it everywhere with us.

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

Bring a backpack for your excursions...it doesn't need to be huge...but Maybe like those addidas sacks...so you dont have to bring a purse and you can put all your stuff in it. Bring lots of stomache medicine..in case you get the runs....a lot of people on our ship got the same virus!!! NOT FUN! Plus you don't want to go spending so much more money for those things on the ship.

have fun!!!!!

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

I just got back from my 5th cruise and here are my thoughts (mind you, I exceeded the weight limit for my suitcase):

- I'm always cold on the ship, so make sure you bring a sweater

- Black dress pants - I wore them at least 3 times

- 7 day cruise you will have 2 formal nights, one is more formal than the other. Most women were wearing cocktail dresses. Some wore long gowns, some wore 2 piece dresses.

- At least 2 bathing suits, sunscreen, sunglasses

- Camera, underwater camera

- I always bring my own hair dryer, the one in the room is kind of dinky

- Sneakers, sandals, heels

- t-shirts and shorts

I bring a lot more than this, but after re-living my trip, I realized this was the stuff I used the most.

Have fun!
Happy Cruising!

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

A lot less than you think and most ships do laundry.

At least 1 nice dress, long and pretty shoes Your cruise will have at least 1 formal night.
I pretty sweater or wrap
Casual sweater/sweat shirt
2-3 of shorts/skirts
2 bathing suits
1 cover up
assorted tops
good sandals
1 sun dress
If you want add some work out clothing.

Also: Consider bringing bug spray, if you plan on more active excursions. It never occurred to me.

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

Yes I definitely agree with the bug spray, we went on one exursion of the myan ruins and the bugs were crazy!! Bring a lot of lounging type clothes, shorts, tanks. That is what your in most of the day! Definitely get sunscreen aloe they charge a fortune on the ship. But also rest assured anything you forget you can usually buy at the gift shop. Enjoy!

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

Bring some downy wrinkle release. Also I didn't think I would get seasick, and I did. So start taking some Bonine, or dramamine. Bomine works better you only take it once a day. Have fun

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

Bring casual dress outfits for dinner and one really nice one for formal night

Bring an iron and be sure to hide it, you are not allowed to have one in your room but you also have to pay to have your clothes ironed.

If you drink bring your own liquor in your luggage b/c drinks could get expensive. We bring our own liquor all the time.

They provide you with a blow dryer

As far as clothes casual, I was in a swimsuit and matching coverup all day, changed for dinner after dinner I changed to casual clothes.

Re: need help: what to pack for a cruise?

do a search for things to pack on the message boards here . . . .

Cruise Critic

You can also find your ship and departure date and maybe 'meet' someone before you go.

I did this when FH and I went on our cruise to Bermuda last year. I 'met' someone before hand and we had dinner with them on the ship ! !
