Here is the problem. FH is having problems at his job. They are doing a lot of layoffs and such. We wanted to get married on a cruise ship out of New York but he is worried that if he takes too much time off, his job might think that they don't need him and come back to no job(this had just happened to one of the other guys.) We don't want a big wedding because we have lived together for 6 years and this is his second marriage. I was looking to do something a little unique so it would be something memorable for both of us. That is why the cruise would have been perfect. We have a small guest list anywhere from 25-65 people depending on what we decide to do. We also don't have that much money to spend.....I don't know what to do. Any ideas woul;d be great. Thanks.

How about a night cruise around Manhattan our out of LI? And a weekend honeymoon trip locally.

You should still do the cruise thing. Just not a regular cruise. They have boats for parties, 'dining yachts ' I think they are called. There are some out of Freeport, there may be some out of manhattan. You cruise around for the evening & have your weddign & dinner, then you come back.
Then either postpone the honeymoon, or just do a long weekend or something.

I agree... do the cruise thing but do a one night thing. They also have 4 day cruises BTW to canada out of NY. That might be better than a one night thing but still not that much time off from work.

- this is the once in a lifetime chance you have to do your wedding your way. I think stuff happenss for a reason, and if your FH gets laid off because he decided to go and get married , then that job kind of sounds ridiculous. Would be happier some where else. .... I actually HATE my job, but I m contracted to stay one more year - I always suggest that people leave if a job cuts too much into thier personal life.

There are cruises for a weekend and most cruise lines will do weddings....they are very beautiful!!! My recommendation....contact Dawn from Cruise One.....she just booked our cruise and I am sure she can help you! FM me for details. I have a brochure with me here at work
