PS: I am using the song 'You'll Be In My Heart' by Phil Collins. Its from the Disney movie 'Tarzan.' Nice words, not TOO sappy

I totally agree with you. I'm also not close with my father so it is very awkward.
I don't like songs that sound too gushy because it's presumptuous that my dad will be choked up that I am now married.

I wish my dad would pick it!!!!
I'm also on the lookout for songs that are not over the top but have yet to find anything that feels right

Ask him to find one. He might have something in mind. Wouldn't hurt!!

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. It's funny how you mentioned to ask him...I was thinking about doing that. It's a bummer how everything is so mushy gushy and we are so not that...LOL

Is there an artist that both you and your dad like? For example, my Dad and I both love Allan Sherman (kitsch singer from the '60s), so we'll be starting our dance with 'Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh' before we dance to anything sappy.

How about Little Surfer Girl by the Beach Boys or Papa won't you dance with me by Doris Day. It is sweet, fast and not sappy.

My dad picked 'Butterfly Kisses'.... I cry everytime I hear it & so does he so it'll be one emotional moment!

I'm thinking 'A Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong. My dad and I love that song. It's not mushy at all. I hate mushy too!

I love 'Unforgetable.' Both of my parents have passed away, so I will use this when I dance with my godfather, but I think it works for so many situations.
