I have an interview on Monday and was given some excercises to complete for it. One of them was to correct an entry in a datebook.
Is there a correct way to enter a meeting in a datebook? What is the format and what information is needed.
This is what was given:
Tuesday, September 23, 10:00 am. Office meeting with xxxxx xxxxxxx, Knopf.
I am thinking I should add the year, the person's title at the company and maybe the purpose of the meeting. Can anyone help?
I have never had this much homework for a job interview.

Yes!! Perhaps a conference room. I guess it should mention the floor.

Re: Need help with job interview for Monday
I don't know if there is a set way to do it, but I was an exec. asst. for a number of years & had my fair share of mtgs. to set up...
I'd do it as follows:
(Also you mention it will be in a datebook, so you will be writing it in ON the date of the meeting)
I'd put:
10:00 Meeting (or conference call, etc.) Re: ABC Deal Attendees: Mr. Smith, VP Mr. Jones, Gen. Mgr. Ms. Doe, Sales Manager 4th floor, Conference Room C
Somewhere I'd also MAYBE list an approx. length for the mtg.
Good luck!

Re: Need help with job interview for Monday
just guessing here: - contact telephone numbers and/or email addresses of meeting attendees - add travel time/arrangements to date book as appropriate - links to documents needed for meeting - equipment needed for meeting - catering needed for meeting - link to meeting agenda

Is it a date book or outlook calendar? Either way, I agree with everyone so far, all good suggestions and I am an Exec Asst.
Good luck with it. I'm sure you will nail it. Always putting more info than less is better.

Re: Need help with job interview for Monday
Well, the interview went well, the woman seemed to like my responses to her test exercises. She seemed to like me.
The only catch is that she says the work hours are 9AM-7PM and the salary is low 30's. Unless I can convince her that I will work on the train and at home, I can't take a job that will leave me getting home at 9:30PM every night! I will be burnt out in a month!

I wonder if I even stand a chance. I couldn't help an eye-popping response when she told me the hours. I wasn't able to hide my feelings.

I don't know what the average salary is in your field, but IMO that's low for that many hours.
Good luck!

I assume that there's no overtime involved here? I think I'd decline if offered this job, unless you absolutely need money to pay the rent (or mortgage) right now. Your gut instinct is worth following here.

No, I think this is one of those low-paying jobs where you need to really love it to do it for that little money. It is an assistant book scout. It sounds really interesting and exciring, but I can't work 9-7 everyday. If you told me I would need to work those hours once a month or a few times a year, I would consider it, but it sounds insane as an everyday job.

Yeah, I am teaching ESL this summer and I am making twice as much per hour!!
If I get offered this job, I will have to tell her that I am not in the place to make the time commitment she needs. If she wants to be flexible, then we will see.
