Ok, so I posted yesterday that I was thinking of getting my ring re-sized. FH got my ring from zales and with the ring came a protection plan for the lifetime of the ring. My ring is too big on me (size 7) and the size I'd need to make it not fall off basically is a size 6.75 (6.5 fits but I'm scared I can't get it off my hand if necessary). Also, I can get it re-dipped and cleaned. It would take a week for it to get done.
Should I do it??? Some posters from yesterday said don't bother, some said get a guard, and some say get it re-sized...
Side note: it has fallen off before. I coached track this past spring and it slipped off my hand into my bag when I wasn't paying attention. I'm a 'has-been' sprinter...I almost pulled a Marion Jones towards the track to find it...

Re: Need help with ring! (sorry if its long)
Danielle, here's exactly what I would do if it were me:
First, if it's too big, it's too big. Definitely do something to make it fit more securely. a 1/4 size is a big difference, even though people may not think so. Mine's a 7.25. a 7 does NOT fit me and 7.5 was too big.
Take it to a really good INDEPENDENT jeweler first, so you can speak to someone who knows W T F they're talking about. Ask on here for a good one. Tell them your dilemma and ask them what they would do. If they tell you to resize it, ask what kind of process that entails, cause I have a feeling it involves cutting the ring and soldering it ( I could be wrong) but that might be why people have reservations about telling you to resize.) Just educate yourself first before you make a decision, don't leave it with them. Then whatever you decide to do, take it back to Zales and have them do it.
If you get the balls put it, that might be sufficient to overcome the 1/4 size difference, but ask the jeweler how they feel about that too.
Good luck!
ETA< I just read the BHB thread now and I saw that you don't have your ring insured yet. DO NOT SEND IT ANYWHERE WITH ANYONE UNTIL YOU DO THAT. If you rent an apartment, you can open up a renter's insurance policy through an insurance agent in 20 minutes, All State gave a pretty good rate, and then you can add a rider for your ring, that's what I did. Or you can go through Jeweler's Mutual, but get it insured quick so a) if God forbid, it falls off you're protected and b) if you're going to send it out for repairs you don't want it uninsured. Get on that, girly!
