Need Help with Shower venues for my sister!

Hey Girls!

I am currently planning my sister's Bridal Shower. She is getting married a little less than 3 months after me, so now is the time to get this started. We are looking to have it in September.

We also have about 50-60 people attending (based on an 80+ invitee list). The Bridal party (some of the girls) bitched about having to pay a dime for it, so I am footing the bill as well as my parents. ANY IDEAS??

I looked into some venues, but they are anywhere from $26-$36 per person. What should I do? I also have some options that are people's homes(my moms or my sister-n-laws) or in my community at the Hall we had our Engagement Party in.

I can rent that room for about $250 but then have to have it catered and decorated (which is cool, I like that) BUT is this not a good idea b/c it's my community and also where we had our Engagement party?

I will take any ideas or feedback...I'm looking to do a SITC Theme. I have a ton of ideas as far as decor goes

What about Filomena's in Franklin Square on Hempstead Tpke? They may be accomodating as well as Pompei in West Hempstead.

If anything, look into booking a Knights of Columbus and have it catered in.

Thank You! I forgot to mention she is in NYC but our family and his family is eastern Suffolk so we are open to a lot of different locations.

TIA

You should also take a look at Shakeltons in Franklin Square.

Do you girls now what a good price range is per person for about 50-60 ppl?

This is my biggest headache right now, since I'm footing the entire bill about 1 1/2 mths after my own wedding. I'm just freaking about where the money is supposed to come from.

I would say, expect to spend at least $20-$30 per person.
Maybe it would be better to figure out what you can contribute, what your parents can contribute and see if renting out a venue is better or finding a restaurant fits your needs.

I had my e-party at the AOH in babylon, my father and I are members, so we got great deals, but my FSIL's nephew had his graduation party there and they paid less then us (they used an outside caterer that was a friend of theirs) and they didn't have a DJ..
The menu we picked with their caterer was I think $18/pp.. open bar is $8.00/pp you could pick a less expensive menu, I think they go as low as $10.00/pp and you could just do beer/wine/soda for either $4.00 or $6.00/pp, I don't remember. The hall charges about $300.00 depending on the time, date and room/# of ppl.

My other FSIL had hers at Belisimos in amityville

I'm not sure how much they are.

The Bellport Country Club is DEFINITELY in your budget - they quoted me $32 for a sit down rehearsal dinner in december (appetizer, salad, choice of 3 entrees, dessert), and i know they will work with you. you probably wouldn't need as much food as all that, or could do a buffet and save $$ there, too.

Agreed, and it is owned by the same people as the Bellport Country Club.

I had alot of luck with The White House in Whitestone. it's pretty easy to get to from Manhattan and Long Island.

We did my sister's shower in the downstairs room and it was great.

What is this bull about the bridal party not wanting to pay for the shower. That is their job!

i had my e-party at domenico's in levittown. they had different menu items w/ different prices but even their cheapest menu had a decent amount of food. Also, piccola bussola in mineola, jonathan's in garden city park, and HR singletons in bethpage are all very good.

I checked out a chinese Restraunt in hauppage for my Best friends shower, its located off off111 its called Jade Garden it is not a buffet and they have a private room, we get our weekly take out from there and the food and service are great. I believe for a shower it was $18 with tax and service, this included family style appetizers, entree and chanpage punch, soda, you bring your own cake. I would check it out. I also know that JR'S steak house there are a bunch around are also under 20 pp. Good luck!

Editted cause i thought of another place Beach tree cafe is wonderful we had my graduation party from college there they are also afforable, you can check them out online.

I think having at someone's house makes the most sense - saves alot of $$$. We wanted to do that but didn't have good options for that, we're also having about 60 people. The cheapest we found was an Irish Pub - I have to find the name of it, but it was $22 pp. but don't forget they add tax and gratuity on top of that bringing it to $28 and don't forget drinks.

Don't get me started on the Bridal Party issue. One of the girls wrote a nasty email to my mom saying she expected me, the MOH and my mom the MOB to pay for the shower. This was before I even had a chance to discuss budget with the wedding party, etc. Let's just say, she is going to find it really awkward when she has to see my face at the shower and wedding festivities. My poor sister, I don't even want to EVER tell her. I guess after the wedding, she should know.

Ugh...life is crazy
