Being that im in a wedding in 2016 my own wedding plans n having another child is either put on hold or need to be pushed up so im thinking of just biting the bullet and giving in to the FH want to go to court and just save the money for a house n kids. I want to have an initmate dinner (and mayb little cocktail hr if i can) at a later date to celebrate at a nice place on the water. There will only be about 50-60 ppl. All the places i am finding are big with dance floors and everything which i dont need. Anyone come across or know of any place (or restaurants with private rooms with waterview) i can check out? Sorry if rambled and thanks in advance :)

Try The View in Oakdale (it's a Lessings property), I think it fits exactly what you are looking for!

I second the View!

Also, I know the Crescent Beach Club has a restaurant and my FBIL & FSIL got married there (very quick small ceremony) and then had a reception lunch in the restaurant for about 30-40 people.

Try the Snapper Inn in Oakdale. I know they have hosted smaller dinners for parties and it's right on the water.

There is a knight of Columbus type place in.copiague on the water. You have to bring your own caterer if you want really inexpensive.

I don't think they have a waterview, but I've heard good reviews about Insignia in Smithtown. I don't know how big the rooms are, but there are also a few nice places in Port Jeff (Ruvo, Graceful Rose, Fifth Season, just what I found from a quick google search).
