My mom came up with an idea of having vintage alarm clocks for the table number displays. I like the idea I just want to make sure it's not totally ridiculous. I ordered 3 from eBay to show FH and he's not a fan..but will let me do it if I really love it.
I thought it could be cute to go with our vintagey theme, we're having low centerpieces and no more than 11 tables..I thought we could also put on the place cards: 12:00, 1:00, 2:00, etc.

I saw that on a blog or somewhere like that really recently and thought it was such a cool and different idea! Just make sure the alarm clocks are adorable and that it matches your theme. As a guest I would think it was really cool though!

this is jmo, but i am not a fan of the idea. if you wanted to go for vintage, why not go for something else?, like a vintage frame, or black and white vintage photos of different locations..

It's cute... all depends on wether is meshes well with all your other decor.
I think I have seen this for a bridal shower.... and everytime one of the clock alarms went off... whoever's gift the bride was opening got a small gift! It was a wonderland theme shower

That's my main concern that it will look dumb...I'm doing ivory linens and these are our centerpieces...this is what the room looks like.

This is JMO, but to me, its more Mad Hatter/Alice in Wonderland Shower than Wedding. I don't think a lot of people would get it or appreciate the way you might want them too...
I also don't think it works with the decor of your venue...IMO, it would seem random and out of place.

Hmmmm... I like the concept alot. It might look nicer if you are able to possibly spray them all silver or ivory or gold. Kind of that new 'vintage/modern' look sorta like how people do chandeliers like that... this sort of feeling? but in a more subtle clean color.
OR.. might be interesting to use a printed graphic like below and put in a vintage style frame. you can write the words in a small script 'Table #' above it and in the same font below 12:00 (whatever the time number is). I think it would be more obvious for people to find their seat. I think the clock might just look too decorative and possibly confusing for some people (esp after cocktail hour lol)

I would have said yes until you posted the photo of your room which looks elegant. I see you doing something vintage but more upscale like framed sepia photos, vintage hankies with the number embroidered (and framed) or something along those lines.

I love the idea b/c I'm all about changing things up to make it unique, but I just don't think it's going to work for a wedding.
For starters - it's going to be hard to see. People are really going to have to get up to them to see the 'time' so they know it's their table. I know you are only having 10 tables max but that can get kind of annoying.
I really don't see it in the OFC - I know you have vintage aspects to your wedding but I see these at a vintage, ourdoor, garden type wedding.

That's really amazing that you were able to just do that!! That looks really good...I'm thinking the next time we go to RH, I want to stop by and put the clock on it and see how it looks...maybe we'll just do traditional frames and I can make it look antique or vintage..like when you dip paper into tea and it changes the color of the paper and then maybe paint the numbers on or something like that..

I will be lost if i walk into a wedding n see a clock in the middle... but instead that great picture frame with a clock in the middle will be amazin!

It's unique, but in that wedding blog DIY kind of way. I'd keep them all an antique silver color. If you want something unique you could also do shadow boxes with vintage items in them too. Or vintage frames with pretty numbers. Or shallow shadow boxes with numbers spelled out of vintage keys, and have your escort cards attached to keys. Or like someone had suggested, a hankie with the table # embroidered on it, and you can put it in a frame with some pressed flowers. Or, numbers in a frame made out of pressed flowers. Lots of vintage things you can do!

I don't think its stupid but I have to agree with some of the other girls that it might look out of place and people might not realize what the clocks are for
I also think your room is realllly elegant and the clocks don't fit
I do however love the concept! just not for your space
I like the idea of the framed clocks...and the framed hankies!
