Hey- we're getting married at Leonard's and we absolutely love love love how it looks...we are in the Continental room and that's the room as soon as you get out of the elevator (2nd floor??)- i don't think it's the room in the picture you posted.

ETA: i had previously gone to a party (not wedding, though) at Leonard's about two years ago and was in awe of the place..When i showed it to FH after we got engaged, he fell in love with it too...

I am in the same situation. Except I´m overseas and so can´t go in person!! They don´t have pics that they can email and I can´t seem to find anyone who has them!! I think there is a tasting this Saturday so you should try to go. The issues I have (which I have asked my fam to look into):

** I have read a few reviews on the web with complaints about valet parking.

** I have read some reviews saying that there was poor coordination between the maitre d and the floor manager (seeing other brides, not being able to take pics where or when you want)

** The ceremony room inside is given with fake flowers (most of the time I´ve seen this and it looks great but I have seen one or two that weren´t so I´m a little concerned)

How many people is the continental room for?

My wedding is small so I think that I´m in the Empire Room on the main floor. Once I get feedback from my mom i´ll let you know. Also, if you have any other info that you get I would love to read it!!!

i recently went to a wedding there in the grand ballroom i think - the room with the white marble floors. here's my observations:

Good:
- staff were very nice, seemed to keep things running smoothly
- didnt really notice any other parties going on (though there was at least 1 other big event that night) - they seemed to keep them separated as well as I'd expect for any hall that does multiple events
- bartenders were good, made whatever we asked for, didn't skimp on the liquor for the most part
- coctail hour food was good (the steak at the carving station was very good), but not nearly as many stations as some other halls offered. still, it was enough, and had a decent variety.
- we didn't valet a car, but didn't hear of any problems/complaints that night at all.

Not so good:
- the main course was just OK (i had tilapia, FH had chicken). both seemed like they were sitting out for a bit before making it to the table, so they weren't that hot, dried out a bit also.
- would have liked different main course selections. only had 3, none of which i was too keen on* (see bottom of review on food)
- there was no outlined dance floor... the way the tables were set up in the room was a bit random, though this could be due to the amount of people they had (175 or so). it could have been set up a little better though.
- i was not crazy about the decor on the edges of the room - fake stone stairs and mirrors. it's just not my style, but everyone has a different 'vision' for their hall, so to each their own

*Of course, the food offered depends on the package you choose and whether you decide to cut costs there, so that's up to each couple to decide on - again, to each their own. i would definitely suggest a tasting if they offer it though.

HTH, sorry if it was a bit long!

Hello Ladies-

I have been to Leonard's on numerous occasions and I have to say- it's not bad.

This is just from my experience so I don't want to offend anyone. When FH and I went to go visit we just couldn't picture ourselves getting married there.
We were overwhelmed with everything going on and the place seemed larger than life and so not personal. Also, the parties we had been to didn't exactly have the best food- it was average.

As for the valet- I never had any complaints.

We opted for a smaller and more personal setting because again, it was our preferance.

If anyone would like to explore other options I would recommend Jericho Terrace or the Inn at New Hyde Park too. It's similar in ambiance only, I have heard the food is better. I liked the food at Jericho Terrace a lot the one time I was there.

If it were me...I would keep looking but, thats only based on my preferences and needs. It's a gorgeous place, I was just worried there isn't enough attention to detail based ont he size and the amount of parties they do each night.

I happen to love Leonard's, but if you are a girl who doesn't like a lot of opulence, then you might be put off by it. But like I said, I think Leonard's is beautiful!

I am not sure when you went, but they changed the main courses.. they offer 4 (plus a veggie option) plus if you want more options you have to pay.. so the wedding you went to must have got the basic options of entrees/food.

My cousin got married at Leonard's in 2007 and their cocktail hour was amazing and delicious, it had so much food that we were so stuffed that we had no idea how we were going to eat the main course. The main course was awesome we had 6 choices to choose from. I had the fish which was delicious and FH had the porkchop they offer. He told me that up to this day that is the best porkchop he has ever tasted it was so succulent and just so tasty( i had a piece of it ). The drinks were awesome and the cake was delish!! I actually had two pieces because another guest didn't want their piece since they were stuffed. Leonard's is so beautiful inside i love their floor to ceiling chandelier and they have a gorgeous fountain on the ground level. I am using the Continental room, my cousin used the Parisian room and both rooms are gorgeous.

I also have some pictures in my albums of Leonard's.

this was winter 2009 - and they probably did pick the most basic package, which i had an * at the bottom of my post for. of course everything depends on the package you choose, but overall the main dishes were just OK.

as for the look of the place, it looks much more 'grand' as you drive up, but it could use a little updating on the inside i guess. not at all a bad looking place, but if that's the look you're going for, i'd recommend checking out jericho terrace.

The wedding was in the winter of 08'?
I was told by my BM that they update every few months and actually when i went for my tasting at Leonard's they were painting the ceiling in one of the rooms so it is true that they do update. Leonard's has a Italian Renaissance feel to it so it's not going to look super modern.

We weren't huge fans of it when we went to visit. It wasn't really what we are going for, I don't mean to offend anyone, it could've just been the night we were there or whatnot, it just seemed busy and not personal to me. Plus, we really wanted more of a homey vibe.

Re: Need honest opnions on Leonards...look wise.

Went to a wedding there last fall. The place is pretty but very large. the bridal suite we were in was right next to a sweet 16 party i thought that was kinda weird i guess no suite near the room the wedding was in. So we were taking pictures and 16 years old were running around us. A lot of the staff was super nice but for some reason our waitress was not at all. My dinner (and others at my table) was just ok. It was a very large wedding though (not sure which room but huge room) so maybe less mass produced would be better. I think to a certain extent any place or party is what you make of it. I had a great time even if I found some things to not be so great. It was just very disorganized with the staff that should have been kissing the bride's butt. maybe the bride wasnt totally clear on what she wanted and that was some of the confusion too?
