I been at Leonards a billion times for so many affairs, never had bad time but never had a really amazing time.(food wise-service)

I have never been there is my life but when I was looking for a RH and asked people I knew about it they all told me that they felt it looked really over the top Liberace style, which is not my style. I'm pretty tranditonal, classic. From what I understand, there is alot of gold everywhere, which some people think looks very chinzy, but to some people, that is a very lux style, so it depends on your interpretation. I don't remember hearing anything about the food, but you only asked about the look of the place anyway, so I hope that helps.
Oh, I also heard that they have like 5 events at a time on the weekends ranging from kids parties, to anniversary parties, bar mitzva's and weddings and that finding your way back to your room after going to the bathroom is very difficult and disorienting because there are so many people from all kinds of different events everywhere.

The 5 weddings at a time thing happens in alot of RH's. Leonard's is styled after a Italian Renaissance feel so not Liberace. So now this has become a bash Leonard's thread, what else is new!!! Please keep in mind alot of people are having their reception at this RH so before saying something utterly nasty about the place where a person is getting married at please be mindful of others.

I think Leonards is a place you either love or hate (look-wise). To me, it has over the top style...and when there is that much of a theme in a place you usually feel strongly about it one way or another depending on your personal taste.
I had my prom there and FH and I loved it. We went back to look at it for the wedding and although we did really like it, we just loved Jericho Terrace more.
I think you really need to just go there and see for yourself.

She just comes on here to say negative things about everything and anything. If your not doing what she prefers forget she will dog it to death. Her opinions are extremely negative and NO ONE cares to hear it anymore. For her to even say that Leonard's is Liberace like is totally obsurd because she have never even seen the place for herself first hand yet she is taking other peoples negative opinions and stating them on here.

You know, when I first started reading this thread I knew someone was going to say something negative and I knewwwwww it was going to be her! I just laugh now about it
I would love to be a fly on the wall at her perfect wedding! She sure has a lot of negative things to say about eveyone else and their weddings...

I love Leonard's; I'm getting married there. The Continental room is on the main level in the corner by the elevator. That's actually the room that the reception will be in if we do not exceed 170. The room is gorgeous. The floor is tiled, no outline for a dance floor, but when all the tables are set up, you know where the dance floor is.
Oh, and I loved the food tasting.

I've already replied here but Leonard's is one of the places I'm seriously considering. I love it. But obviously the decor isn't subtle...its very grand looking, very italian renaissance, as was said already. A lot of catering halls in LI/NYC are in this style..its just Leonard's is on the more opulent side of renaissance. I can see however how some people might think its too much for their taste. If your style is very simple, clean lines, then its not for you. Especially if you are a minimalist, then I can see how you think it might really be put off by the decor. If you're a girl who likes the bling and more ornate decor, then you'll probably love it.
But now that I think about it, I just did a quick look over of the websites of some of the more popular halls of the girls on this site...honestly...they all have some degree of this same opulence (especially the italian-run ones) - whether its frescos or wall murals, crystal chandeliers, marble, onyx, gild, etc. Its just Leonard's has it ALL....
And even if thats my style and not yours, I wouldn't look at your hall and say 'Yeah its nice if you like that empty, boring, dry-toast look.'
Obviously, some people like Leonard's look, others don't. You can be honest without being brutal.
Just my two cents.

WOW this really turned it to something that it shouldn't have!
I will be getting married at Leonard's in the fall of 2010. When FH and I were looking at RH's, we narrowed them down to Leonard's and Jericho!
FH LOVED JT, I really liked it too! However, my mom is helping me with the wedding and I am having about 220 ppl that I am inviting(not saying they are all coming), but FH and I looked at it price wise, and honestly Leonard's is pretty reasonable. It was less the JT and we thought what we save on the RH we can use on other things that still need to purchased! That is how and why we choose Leonard's.
I think Leonard's is beautiful!!!! And all I have to say is TO EACH ITS OWN!!!!! Please don't let other's tell you what they think is wrong with an RH. Look for yourself and do what makes YOU happy!
