FH is turning the big '30' this June...I wanted to throw him a surprise party, but after getting prices on everything it was going to end costing too much...then I decided I would take him away on a vaction...Carribbean was my first choice but since he can't take his first week of vacation until July the prices are doubled bc of the season...too high...
Does anyone have any nice long weekend getaway ideas??? We love raod trips so I wouldn't mind driving...just not sure where to go...

Coastal Maine in July is amazing...You could stay in southern Maine or even Camden, boothbay harbor (approx 7 hours driving time)
I have a house up there, so if you want any information, let me know

How about Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore? As far as Boston, I was there last year and so scared to wear my Yankees jersey. But I loved it when I walked into a pizzeria (that I swear was being run by the mafia) and heard Sinatra's New York, New York playing on the radio!

Re: Need Ideas...
I posted something similar on the BHB board yesterday....they gave me some good ideas.
what about fire island its very nice and they have some hotels not sure on the prices of the hotels though.
Also Montauck is very nice look into one of the bed and breakfasts places. The wineries out east are very cool and you can get a nice buzz going on for about $30 going to the wine tastings
Pennsylvania has some nice sites as well there is hershey, poconos, philly, Amish country is nice as well
