Need ideas for a care package

My friend is having a hysterectomy (sp?) next week.

Since she will be laid up for a while I thought I could give her a care package to help keep her entertained for a few days. I was thinking about a bunch of magazines, some of my famous oatmeal raisin cookies...maybe an herbal heating pad?

I'm at a loss.

Does anyone have any ideas?

crossword or puzzle magazines??
maybe a good book?
If she will be home, maybe a movie?

Crossword puzzle books,Lotions,Lip Balm,Maybe if she has a cd headset you could buy or burn some of her favorite music And last but not least visit her as much as you can Sounds like your a wonderful friend

Hmm.the nurse in me says to bring her lots of tea and gingerale-you get quite a lot of trouble passing gas after a hysterectomy and those are the best things to help move it along so she can be discharged quicker.

Thanks for all the great ideas!

I love the tea idea. I never would have thought of that....but then again, doesn't a nice cup of tea make everything better?

Is there a particular type of tea that would be better?

What about - a deck of cards, if you have a laptop she could borrow or hand held games? Emery boards & nail polish and remover & cotton balls.
Does she do any kind of stitching or knit? you could get stuff like that or one of those latch key sets... ummm... if I think of anymore - I'll let you know.

I think what you are doing is very nice.
How about some body lotions as well. Some candy. Do you know hat her favorite is??

What about one of those hand held poker games - they are like 5-10 bucks at best buy, if she is crafty, then maybe something crafty to do.

And Mad LIbbs, I always got these when I was sick, so they always make me feel better now!!!!
