Need ideas for Beach BBQ Engagement Party at Lido
I am planning a beach BBQ and already have the permit and caterer. I'm freaking out 'cause I have been so busy I did'nt even check out the area. Last time I was there was in 2007 and the only pics I find online are black and white. The plan is to have the party the last weekend in Aug. Help!

You can use starfish as place card holders to welcome guests. For the favors, chocolates tied in a tulle/organza or a DIY shell picture frame . Use white candles white nestled between shells with beds of sand and pebbles or tea lights cast in beautiful sea shells. The great thing about shells- different shapes, colors, and sizes! Use white confetti or sand for decor for a beach look. For the centerpiece, use large glass vases wrapped in natural-colored raffia; and tuck yellow table napkins and olive fabric into wine glasses to mimic pretty blossoms. Use leaves, bamboo, raffia ribbons, sand and stones for accents as well as tropical fruits- coconuts, pineapples, watermelon, etc. for displays.
If available, use a canopy tent for a outdoor look. Drape tulle or sheer material for curtains and garlands of orchids with shells & starfish. If you are planning for an all day event, use tiki torches (insect repellent) for a beautiful touch at night. Hope that helps!

You could use shells and starfish to decorate the tables. My sister had a beach theme bridal shower and we used palm tree plants that we got a a local store and shells to decorate the tables. We also had colored flowers (like lei's) around so brighten everything up. I wanted to serve tropical drinks like pina coladas but we ended up doing a non-alcoholic party. We also decorated the gift table with a net that we hot glued starfish, seashells to and you can have a treasure chest looking cardbox or just decoration.

***Update***The weather was so sketchy the entire Summer, including the month of August! There was actually a Hurricane expected on the South Shore! I had the worst anxiety ever and was sick to my stomach. Two days before the event, I switched the venue to my backyard. I used 'The Happy Hostess' as my caterer and they were so accommodating they brought everything to the house and helped me set up. We purchased two tents from Sports authority and borrowed a third. We emptied out the garage and had the party from the front yard to the back and inside the first floor. I cant believe about 80ppl showed up we had an awesome time. The Caterer showed up the next day to pick up the grill. I got to keep all the left over hamburgers and such. It didnt wind up raining and the hurricane never touched the Island but I could not have had a better e-party. So much for planning!
