Not too many offer free trials, usually they apply the few to your wedding day, if you book them..

Try doing a search on craigslist.com (in nyc) to see if you come up with someone

THE WOMEN I USED WAS GREAT, SHE WAS A FRIEND OF A FRIEND AND HER PRICE WAS VERY REASONABLE.
I COULD LOOK UP THE NUMBER FOR YOU IF YOU WANT TO CALL AND ASK HER PRICES.

MY HUBBY LOVED HER WORK, HE WAS THERE FOR THE TRIAL AND HE WAS HESITATE, HE IS NOT A BIG SPACKLE MAKEUP KIND OF GUY AND ON OUR WEDDING DAY HE COMMENTED SHE DID AN AWESOME JOB.
