Need info- no clue where to go

My FH was approached today by some people who want to sponsor him to become a touring golf pro (I am so happy for him). We have no idea what it entails, technically and financially.
I been searching the net for days. I haven't found any info.

FH wants to know what he's talking about before he speaks to his boss.

Going on a limb to see if any of the girls and their families have any info or know where to get info.

Re: Need info- no clue where to go

Well, this is just brainstorming, but here are a few sources that may be able to answer questions or connect him with the right people.

Ask the people willing to sponsor him - they should be able to put him in touch with others - ask if you can talk to someone they previously sponsored, to get a better understanding of the touring pro lifestyle.

Contact the USGA and PGA

Try calling local college golf team coaches

Call the golf pro at Bethpage - they just recently hosted a major tournament.

Maybe the staff of a golfing magazine can offer some contacts or direction.

Have a list with specific questions ready so you can maximize any hot contacts you do make - nothing worse than hanging up only to find you forgot to ask your most important question.

Congrats!!!!

Congrats - that is wonderful news!!!

Maybe call a local golf club and see if they know anything?? Maybe even a sales company like Taylor (think thats it). I don't know if this would work but it may be worth a shot.

Good luck - keep us posted!

Re: Need info- no clue where to go

My husband said you need to find out the tour that he would be on, and that many of those players do not make much until they start to win and you might have to pay for your own travel and caddy. Is it a company/corporation that wants to sponsor him or an individual who approached him? If it is a company you need to have to understand what they expect from him and how much they are willing to sponsor him for prior to agreeing to this. Some sponsors might just want to pay a small fee to him for wearing their logo, while others want to pay his way and help him become a champ.

There are SOOO many variables my husband said that it is hard for you to look this up. Some people make a salary while doing this, while others are only paid if they win. So he needs to sit down with this people and totally understand their expectations and the offer. Also, he needs to get it in writing.

Re: Need info- no clue where to go

thanks for your feedback and kind words girls!

FH was approached by some members at the club he works at. He just recently qualified to play at the Buick Scramble in FL. The winners get awarded by Tiger himself!

The people who approached him apparently had a sit down type of thing and decided they wanted to do this. They are just regular people who see his potential. They want to see him dedicate his time toward practice and competition instead of spending most of his time in the shop. So they aren't corporate sponsors or anything. Just some people with money who want to invest in him.

Hopefully this is a little more info?
