Hi Guys. I am finalizing my invitations and have a question. I am doing these huge invites and getting inner and outer envelopes. Do I have to put the person's name on the inner envelope or can it be blank?

I didn't write on ALL my inners .... i did write the couples name again if it is a couple with children....and i JUST wrote THEIR name so they would see that the kids names are not on it...so they are not invited...

Yea, I am all about fancy schmancy. So, can I just do the person's name? Tessa put it down as addressing. It doesn't make sense to address again on the inner envelope. Right?

I think the Inner envelope only gets the people you are invitings names....no addresses

Re: Need Invite Help
My sister had very formal invites with inner and outer envelopes. She did not address the inner envelopes.
As for Gina's comment, I think she means, if you think people would bring unwanted guests you may want to specify who is invites on inner enevelopes. I think you can also do that on the outer and save yourself money and work
For example, couple with two kids:
If kids are invited:
Mr. and Mrs. John Jay Lucy and Michael 100 Smith Street New York, New York 11111
If kids are not invited:
Mr. and Mrs. John Jay 100 Smith Street New York, Ne w York 11111
That is how I did it since limited children are invited.

I think she means that if you are sending to a couple that has kids....and say you only want the couple there , and not the kids (or other members of their family) - you should write just the couples names on the inner..

Re: Need Invite Help
I'm not addressing the inner envelopes. I'm not inviting kids except for FHs nieces and nephews and my very close cousins which is only about 10 kids total so we're just going to address the outer Mr. & Mrs. XYZ & Family for those.

Looks like I have to fork over the bucks and do this because FH has relatives who are notorious for bringing rugrats to weddings. Thanks for your help guys!

I did mine this way too! Putting the names on the inner envelope is definitely more formal and IMO a nice touch :)

In cases where I didn't know the people (FMIL's friend) I used Mr. & Mrs. John Doe on the inner.. For our friends and family I used first names on the inner eveloped - ie John & Mary or JOhn and Mary Doe
