Need jewelry help! UPDATE!

Need jewelry help! UPDATE!

FH bought me a small gold 3stone diamond ring 4 years ago. I've never had the prongs checked or tightened, and tonight I noticed that one of the side diamonds was loose and the prong was bent back. I took the ring off (this was hard, b/c I've never taken it off in 4 years, except for surgery.) and I stuck it in a ziploc bag.

The diamond has fallen out completely, but it's in the ziploc w/ the setting. I guess I just have to have the diamond (it's verrrry small - less than 10 points) popped back in, and have the prong bent back?

Does anyone know where I can have this done ASAP (tomorrow morning)? I have to be at work at 1:30pm, so it has to be done before that.

Does anyone have a favorite jeweler in Commack Jewelry exchange? There are so many in there, but I would rather go to a place that someone I 'know' trusts.

Any other jewelry stores in the area would be great too. Thanks!!!

In the Commack Jewelry exchange I always go to the second one on the left. I don't know the name of the place but the owner is Sammy.

I always go to the 2nd guy in the middle at the jewelry exchange. He does all my repairs and has good prices.
He is also honest about what can be done and if he can't do it he tells me instead of ruining my stuff.
I like him.

If you don't mind traveling to Ronkonkama, my MOH's dad is a jewler in a shop on Portion Road (in the Waldbaum's shopping center).

Only if it's a round though - I know when my ring (a princess) was loose he told me he didn't feel comfortable tightening it, and sent me to a friend in sayville.

Definately check out Gemport in Northport on 25A. I love them there. Everyone said my engagement ring couldn't be sized but then I went there and they did an amazing job. Also my friend had to get her prongs fixed because they were lose and they did an excellent job as well.

Re: Need jewelry help! UPDATE!

OK, I took my ring to be fixed Thursday morning. I was pressed for time (had 2 hours before work), and I was already at Target, so I took someone's recommendation and brought the ring over to Commack Jewelry Exchange.

A place that will remain nameless took the ring and charged me $10 to lengthen one prong so the stone wouldn't fall out again. It took 30 minutes, and when he was done, the prong was SO long, it covered half the stone.

I asked him to fix it, and I was told that it would cost another $10 for tying up the repair guy. I said, 'No thanks' and left.

2 hours later, I'm typing at work, and I realize the stone is gone AGAIN. The prong broke off completely. I was FURIOUS, but luckily I found the stone. I used my lunch/dinner break to head BACK to the jewelry exchange and showed the MORON what happened. He told me that I must not be a very careful person.

I got my $$$ back, and went across the street to Mayfair Jewelers in Peppertree Commons (thanks to Jamie's recommendation.)

They were FABULOUS, and really did me right. They did my repair perfectly, and even tightened all of the other prongs.

Thanks guys, for all the suggestions.
