I wanted to try making my Menu's, Programs, STD's and possibly Invites in Photoshop to help save some money and make everything more personalized.
I attempted working with it last night but I got so far as to a blank page I can do basic photoshopping with pics but this I'm lost.
I think I might need a Photoshop for dummies or something...but I'm not really good with those books either. Do you think they make Photoshop for 'Complete Dummies' version?
Does anyone have some kind of tutorial for these kind of projects? Thanks alot!

Re: Need LOTS of help with Photoshop
Do you have the program 'Illustrator'? That's really what you should use for laying out type. Photoshop is for images... like you said. I'm a Graphic Designer, I do this stuff everyday. Let me know if you need any other help.

No I don't, is it expensive? Do you think it would be a good idea to invest in that for all my paper projects? Is it easy to learn?

I thought it was easy, FH isn't so good at it. It's most likely not worth buying.

Ok, I think it might be worth doing some research on the tutorials. Photoshop is probably where I'll be able to do the most customizing in I think. Thanks alot.

to be perfectly honest.. Photoshop is not a 'learn it overnight program..'You might be able to do basic work with it.. but i wouldn't depend on it to design more complicated aspects of your invitations..

Re: Need LOTS of help with Photoshop
Hi There,
I'm an Art Director, work in Photoshop all day long, (*sigh) — Everyone is right it's not an overnight learning curve.
Actually, Adobe InDesign is really the best for laying out programs, that's what I'm using.
I personally find illustrator maddening for newbies.
However, I just looked on the Adobe website, and they have a FREE trial downloads of both IllustratorCs2 and InDesignCS2, or you can just download CreativeSuite (which has all three Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) usually these are good for 30 days,

Once you have that you can always go to the help menu to look up basics, also, if memory serves me correctly the downloads should come with Basic Tutorials.
I think the entire package is like $1000-$1400, it's way steep.

Have you considered DIY invitations and STD? I got my DIY's from eBay and they were easy to print out. You just need to pick a font you like.
