trust me you are not alone in this struggle. i just took a 2nd job (part time) to help with the wedding expenses.

Everything is just so expensive. We keep telling ourselves it will all be worth it but its insane...

PLUS - FH works part time and is still in school and deosn't graduate until May...so it feels like it is all on me

we are the reverse, kind of. fh makes all the $$$ and i feel like he is putting all his $$ towards the wedding acct. although we are not in school, i don't make that much and had to work a second job. i am so tired already and i've only worked 2 days so far.

and it feels so farrrrrr away...not that the scrimping and saving will end with the wedding...casuew then you want to by a house, have kids, maybe vacation, kids college, retirement...

I better stop before I depress myself!!

Now I'm depressed....

I try not to let myself think about the cost of houses; I'd rather think about the cost of a wedding! I really don't know how people afford, esp those just starting out and for those that are completely on their own. Salaries aren't that great in NY!

i know i feel the same way. the way i see it, we need another 15k, which may as well be a million. just hang in there, if you cannot come up with all the $$, there are ways to cut back and still have a beautiful wedding.

If it's that bad..you could always bring costs down!!! You have 2 years girl!
We did a wedding 'worth' way over $25K and it only cost us around 17K at most. (not with HM ...but that's only @ $3-4K once we go...Disney World)

If you need some good $$ Saving ideas, FM me! I saved some serious money.

We did a wedding 'worth' way over $25K and it only cost us around 17K at most. (not with HM ...but that's only @ $3-4K once we go...Disney World)

I think my biggest problem right now is that my FH isn't working really. He will hopefully have a job after he graduates (in the summer) but I don't want to count on that income until its definite. I think once he has a real job than we can actually count his contributions...it just looks scary with only my salary...and I do ok! Bills, bills and student loans :(

I've started playing the lottery. It's my only hope. :) But seriously, FH and I started a joint account the minute we got engaged in May. We now contribute a set amount each month and by the time the wedding rolls around we should have a good portion saved. I'm hoping that any monetary gifts we recieve and the money we make from the guests should even it all out or come very close.
I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Everyone I talk to (those not actually getting married) can't believe I'm waiting so long to get married. Like I would put myself in debt to pay for my wedding then never be able to buy a house, etc.

I need to play lottery also, I am going to buy a ticket today..

People I talk to also, can't believe I'm waiting, the past 2 weddings I went to were planned in less than 6 months, I am not doing that, it was very stressful for them and plus I rather take my time and plan so I could have what I want plus not go broke doing it... feel me...and it was also kind of inconsiderate especially for the BP.

yeah , hear ya. The amount we set though is not a huge amount and we figured it into our monthly budget. From there, we can always add some extra money along the way.

Even if I had loads of money, though, I would still give myself time. Planning a wedding in less than a year would probably cause me a nervous breakdown. :)

We paid everything out of our checking account as it came in. $50 here, $100 there, whatever we could afford whenever we could. STILL it wasn’t enough.

I gave up and took out a loan. Small but still I HATE debt



The only silver lining I have so far is that I now know I can get together about $18,000 in less than a year if I really need to!

I am selling the stocks I own to give us money for our honeymoon but I’ll be zinged for it when tax season comes around. I just want this to be over so I can try to start paying off people again and not saying those two NASTY words “minimum payment”. ARGH

If I can pay $18,000 in a year for a wedding (Before the loan) I can sure as hell pay off all my debt in less than a year. Painful as this wedding is to my budget I’m learning something from it.

guys...I only have 5 MONTHS and I need about as much as you all do...We are in serious PANIC mode...
