we have also saved a good amount of $$ so far, just this last year alone. we opened a joint savings acct in january and just put what we can each month in. it builds up fast. the best thing to do is to just put what you can in, you drive yourself nuts if you try to always put the same amt in, know what i mean.

I have actually gone one step further and had a specific amount taken from my paycheck and deposited right into our savings account. I am saving a HUGE portion of my paycheck every 2 weeks but it still seems like it wont do it.

THe biggest problem is that FH makes very little. He screwed up in school a while back and he is finally on track and getting his Masters in May. I would neer complain to him abou tsaving because he always feels terrible enough that he always has just enough cash to get by. I am confident that he will get a job very soon after he graduates because he is in the atheltic training field and he has contacts, friends and notworks in all areas from pro-teams, to colleges, to private facilites. I just feel like we will not know how much we can truly save until that happens and at that point everything is booked and we can just do the best we can.

I am just venting because I don't evnt to him rarely ever. I don't want him to feel bad. I am elated that he is back on track and finishing school and excelling in an area that he loves but it is just frustrating.

Thanks guys!

i thought about doing that, the paycheck thing. b/c for me that is really the only way i will put $$ aside. just hang in there for a while, i'm sure things will work out.

thanks!

And I know I am just reacting because it is overwhelming...I mean truthfully, I have nothing to complain about. We are getting married!! FH and I will both have graduate degrees soon and he will be doing something he loves! I can feel that things will just get better...I just have to wait it out!

Thanks again for listening.

Hey, feel free to vent to us. That's what we're here for. I like the idea of direct deposit. I currently have direct deposit to checking and me and FH actually set up an online account with ING (better interest % than standard banks) and we just pull a set amount from our checking accounts each month. It all adds up.
