Sooooo....the priest that was supposed to marry us has been placed at another church and they won't let him come back to do our ceremony (I asked!) Do I continue to have the mass at my childhood church or just go to my FH's church which is nicer, closer and cheaper? We will also probably be attending this church once we are married. Just wanted to see what you thought..... THANKX!!!

Re: Need Opinions...
I replied new church because if you can't have your original priest, why not go to the nicer church that is more convenient?

Re: Need Opinions...
First, I would wonder why they wont let old priest come back???? Usually they do
but since you cant get him, then i would go to new church for all of the reasons you mentioned and it can be symbolic of leaving your childhood and moving on to your new life ... i dont know, sounded good in my head

Re: Need Opinions...
what does your family think- honestly- the new church sounds better but sometimes parents get all upset about changing churches.

I voted for the new church. I agree, it's symbolic of you leaving your parents and joining your FH in his church.

We went to a new church...Growing up I never liked our church so we are having our ceremony at St. James R.C. Church in Setauket. This is the church he belongs to...

Re: Need Opinions...
My family never had a church, so I am getting married at FH church as well. Go for the new Church, unless your parents have a problem with it.

The rumor at church is that they 'asked' him to move to another church because he wanted to incorporate all these new things and my old school church was not going for it. I don't know. I think he was bumping heads with the Msgr. too much. So when I asked if he could come back for the wedding he said he didn't think they would let him.

My mom says as long as it's a catholic church it doesn't matter where it is but my Dad is having a problem with it. I think he'll come around though.

Re: Need Opinions...
If this is going to be the church of your future, then get married there... You will have a great memory of your wedding there and every time you walk in it, you will remember your special day. Check with your parents to make sure they are ok with your decision though. Best of luck!
