NEED OPINIONS!!

OK so we have our top 2 places...The Inn at New Hyde Park and The Venetian Yacht Club....only problem is that the Inn is way over our budget for a sat night so we would have to compromise and have a sunday afternoon/night wedding whereas the VYC we could have a sat night. I dont think you could compare the two i LOVE the Inn but I dont love a sunday wedding
the Inn is also giving us alot more for our money... the food is incredible.. plus they are giving is the option of having a seafood boat or Viennese hour included in the price plus intermezzo in between the app and main course. Plus at the inn they give you alot more choices to individualize any aspect of the menu/wedding its really ALL ABOUT YOU... plus my fav upgrade that would have to get... vodka infused snow cone station ....
what does everyone think??? a sat night or sunday, ceremony starting around 3 and cocktail hr at like 5? is the sunday a bad idea??? HELP!!

what do u feel is so bad about a sunday? just because it isnt the 'normal' day for a wedding?

eta: i actually think its crazy to pay more $$ for a diff day of the week ... the date i wanted hapepend to fall on a sunday and i gladly welcomed it! then again, i like doing what ISNT the norm! hehe

for me, a sun wedding (afternoon) in my case, can give a more relaxed feel to the day .... i wasnt into the whole formality of a traditional wedding

in the end, you're going to remember the place you had it at and the food you enjoyed so much! not the day of the week... IMO

Yes what Im worried about is the guests...I dont want to seem inconciderate to the people that have to work on sunday I want everyone to be able to enjoy the wedding and have a good time not have to worry about goign to work the next morning, plus the option of having a brunch the following morning

why dont u consider having it in the afternoon then so it doesnt end too late?

I posted on BHB. Here goes:

I am an INN bride too! I had to go over our budget to make a Saturday happen but somehow we will manage (I hope!). I had a lot of out of towners (NJ, PN) and a chruch that couldn't do a sunday wedding so I was sort of confined to a saturday.

If you really think a wedding at the Inn is what you envision and want - go with the Sunday. It is a new place, it is beautiful and, think about it, the outdoors definetely looks better during the day so with a Sunday wedding you can take advantage of the earlier hour and the sun shining into that big ballroom. Just from reading your post, it is SOOOO obvious that you really prefer the Inn and that's where you want to have the wedding, so have the wedding where you want to and don't worry about the date.

My brother had a Saturday afternoon wedding and I had a great time. I've also been to Sunday night weddings and at least from the ones I went to, I never noticed a significant amount of people leaving early.

IMHO, stop worrying so much about your guests...it's YOUR day, you should have what YOU want. If people really want to celebrate your wedding they will be there no matter what day it falls on.

It's funny... I think before you realize how EXPENSIVE weddings are, everyone is a Saturday night snob... once you see how much it is/how high the minimum number of guests is for night, everyone starts to change their tune!

It seems you really would like to get married at The Inn..first I would try negotiating with them...tell them your budget and see what they can do for you! I wouldn't worry too much about your guests coming on a Sunday, they will have more than enough time to request a day off the day after your wedding if they are concerned about work. This is YOUR day and I'm sure half of your guests really won't mind. I was concerned about this too, and after asking about half of my guest list just to get a feel of what everyone thought the majority told me I could have it on a Monday and they would be there.

If you are unsure about the VYC and The Inn won't budge and your set about having it on a Sat..continue searching..I'm sure theres a hall that will have it ALL for you..there's so many to choose from!

Don't know if this affects your decision but someone told me that while the Inn does only one wedding at a time, they do more than one event at a time. Personally, this would not bother me at all... I just feel brides who get sold on the 'one at a time' idea should know this.

I second the Saturday afternoon....go with the place you love!!! I went with a Thrusday night at the place we loved and yes it will inconvince some people but, if they really want to be there they will!!!!
