OK girls So I have started my quest to look into photographers and I am so confused!! what I want is someone who will really be able to capture the emotions of the day. I also feel like I will need someone who will be able to give me some advice as of how to pose and give me ideas of good pictures to take since im clueless. I have looked at some websites and they all look ok, but they dont blow me away We used alison conklin a photographer I found on line for our engagement pictures and we liked how they came out but my only complaint was that she didnt really give us any direction during the shoot, is this typical? Im really getting stuck on this! I have our epics in my album and you can see her work on her website under the sideshows its alisonconklin.com any opinions would be helpful!! and if anyone could recommend their photographer that would be great also Thank girls

Check out bob at Velvet Studios.. he does great work at reasonable prices

Go check out my album! Roma Photo is really good. Alex gives some direction, but he also 'tries' to capture moments.
Your eye might have a different vision
Best advise is to give your photographer *must have* photos - Collect them throughout your planning.
Email them to your photographer and or print them out - give them to your MOH as a duty than hand them to your photographer the day of.
Just to be sure you get some of those shots -you can even look at them to reference them.
Just ideas
When I went to Alex's studio I didn't need to give him any must have photos. I just told him he was hired and to do what he did for all the brides

I'm using Patken Photography and i looove them!!! a few of my friends have used them and they were amazing! they gave direction and the pictures were nothing like i've ever seen before. Once i seen their pictures i stopped looking and booked with them right away!! Hope i helped!! Good Luck

We used Duet (Woo's team). We thought they gave good direction without being bossy. They also ask for a list of shots you want on the day of the wedding and will help arrange folks to fulfill all the shots on the list.

I used George from Right Angle and alot of our pictures were posed.
I think that you should make appointments and see them, ask them to show you full albums. Dont go by just the albums they show you-these are 60-100 pictures that are teh best from that specific wedding. What do the rest look like was always my question.
If that means meeting with 30 photographers then so be it. You have to be happy with what you get!

I took pictures with punam and she was very helpful throughout the shoot. I never felt that she was directing me, I felt that we were having a flowing conversation. She has experience with acting so she knows how to anticipate moments and what looks best on the camera! Her prices are great too!
