My shower was last Saturday and I didn't post this sooner because at first I didn't think the issue was a big deal but it has been bothering me.
Well, my aunt/Godmother did not attend my shower! She claimed she already rsvped to her neighbor of 40 years grandkids communion !!!???? As of yet, a week later, she had NOT CALLED to see how it was or to apologize.
There was also a VERY poor showing by my cousins (all were married 12 plus years ago and I did so much for them as a poor college student).
Considering she is my Godmother, and because my mom is deceased, don't you think she should have been there? My other aunt was there and let it slip to one of my friends that she was 'mortified' that more of my family didn't show.
What do you think should have been done? What should I do?
I guess I know who my REAL family is now, those at the shower.
TIA girls

It's odd that she would choose another person's communion over your shower. Are you two still very close? Has she been involved in everything dealing with the wedding. Maybe she has been feeling left out.

So sorry to hear that. My godmother didn't come to mine since she took her son looking at colleges, I was a bit hurt but just remember those who did come and LOVE you!

well I can't say I blame you for being a disappointed that she didn't go to your shower b/c of a neighbor's grandkid's communion.
IMO, you should let her know how much you missed her at the shower. Hopefully she will realize that being your Godmother, she should have been there.

That is really horrible. I am so sorry that she did not come. Either you could let it go, or flat out ask her in a nice way why she opted not to go. You may feel better if you get it out in the open. Tough call. Did she at least send you a gift and/or a card?

Re: NEED OPINIONS/ADVICE ON THIS ONE!!
She did send a gift and she has been present for all of the other events in my life.
She is almost 70 and she and my uncle have been getting a bit 'flaky' in recent years. It's the type of thing where everything is very subtle but it starts to add up after a while. A whole bunch of litttle things, comments etc. but together they mean something.
I mean my FSIL who has three kids (under 10 years old) and a full time job as a professor FLEW in from WISCONSIN and my aunt couldn't drive from Rocky Point to East Northport?
Oh, and my aunt's daughter who is a single mom of a 1 1/2 year old who had bad allergies that morning came. The only one of my cousins and the only one who is a single parent came. Go figure!
Yes, not coming was mistake #1 but regardless shouldn't she have called me by now (a week later) and asked me how it was
Thanks for letting me vent ladies.
I thought my feeling were justified just needed confirmation
