need parts of a bed help- am I blonde...

, I'm shopping for a new bed... I have had the same IKEA bed for 5 years Time for a change.. Not when I get a bed I can get a

headboard which goes at the 'top' of the bed'
footboard- which goes at the 'bottom

I get a mattress and a boxspring to go with it???

I am really confused at the parts I need for a bed!!

Also, I love the Whitney bed from Pottery Barn but its $850 with delivery and set up and I still need a mattress. Does anyone know whereI can get a nice metal, pewter bed?

My bed has a headboard and footboard all attached to the frame....so it is essentially all one piece.

The box spring and mattress fit in the frame.

We got ours at Crate & Barrel a few years ago...it's metal but no the iron look.
