Need Photography help..

We are leaning towards having FH's family photographer shoot our wedding..

My question is.. he has asked me to draw up a package of what I want, not a list of shots, (I already got that from Shamma ), but more like # of pics in album, how many albums, sizes, and all that mumbo jumbo.. What would you have if you could make up your own package?

I would have just what I'm having now.
36 ( I think 30 is enough though) 8X10 Pics for you.
2 5x7 albums for the parents with maybe 24 in each.

Do you feel bad asking for all that?
I also expect a certain amount of proofs back also.

I would want an engagement shoot
Parent's album
One of those story box to display proofs..they look so nice on the coffee table
Proofs on cd as well as hard copy
all negatives

Assistant with soft lighting
black and white and color shooting - one photographer I went to see, said in order for them to shoot B&W we would have to pay them an additional $500....you know they were scratched off the list
5*7's for the bp members
8*10's for you and your hubby's desk..LOL
One really large pix 20*24 for your home
a nice 11*14 for your bedroom
Thank you cards
Is he offering framed pictures LOL???
Don't leave anything out

Well he said come up with a pkg right, so I would list everything that I wanted in a dream pkg.

Marcella this is what is in my package:
(1) 50 pg album 10 x 10
(2) 24 pg albums for parents 5 x 7
(4) 16 x 20 Protraits
(2) 8 x 10
(10) 5 x 7 for Bridal party
(150) thank you cards with pics
with the option to add later if I need to

Just to ask: Is he a professional photographer or hobbiest? Does he have liablity insurance? Most venues require photographers to have it.
Also, if he is sick or has an emergency who else would shot your wedding?
These are some questions I would ask. I know someone who hired a non-professional and they didn't show up. There was nothing she could do.

2-11x14 for the parents
3 of the above if you want an extra for somewhere else in the castle LOL

some 5x7's
an album w/ 48-60 pics

and wallets for your thank yous, of which u have to send me one too!!!

This is what I am getting:
2 photografers:
one to shot only in B&W for photojournalistic pictures
and the other regular color (I think she comes with an assistant)
My package for the B&W is 150 to 175 with proofs and negatives he comes when I am getting ready and leaves after my first dance
My package for the color:
40 pictures 8x10 leather album
2 parents albums 5x7 with 12 photos each
one 11x14 for bride and groom
six 5x7 for BP
75 wallet pictures
one 11x14 B&W with my bouquet hand colored
all negatives and proofs

My wedding was in July.
My package w/a few add-ons came out to this:

Bridal Album - 50 pages of 10X10 pics plus 2 collage pages w/4 pics on each

Parent Albums - 24 pages of 8X8s was the standard but we ended up w/26 for each

12 5X7 bridal party group pics 11 for them, 1 for us

3 8X10s - 1 for each set of parents, 1 for us

140 wallets as Thank Yous

1 16X20 of our group shot of everyone at the wedding

I would also ask for about 300 or so shots to be taken. You keep all proofs and get the negatives at some point.

I would also ask for your names to be engraved on your albums. And ask for a proof album for your proofs if he does them as 5X5s - photographers can get albums for those pretty easily.

That is my perfect photography package!

I think that all of the estimates for the bridal albums are very low. After you see your proofs, you will want more than 50-60 pics in your album, believe me! We originally contracted for up to 90 pics in our bridal album, and ended up with about 76. Our photographer used many different sized photos in our album, which allows you to include pics in a series on the same page. Just something to think about.
