Hi Ladies, I am stressing out and need some ideas. FH's sister lives in Nashville and I asked her to be one of my 3 BMs. We ordered dresses in June, and they came in 3 weeks ago. I ordered hers one size bigger than she needed due to some measurement issues (like, she couldn't give me good measurements). Two weeks ago she found out she is over three months pregnant!!! Now her dress already doesn't fit.
What should I do? I don't think she is going to want to pay to order a new plus sized rush order dress, and I know its going to be more drama between me and FH.

Re: need pregnant BM advice
what does the dress look like and does it come with a shawl? they may be about to use the extra fabric to put in the back if shee needs. you only have 2 months left

Wow....that's really a tough situation. Can you call up there store and see if there's anything they can do? Maybe they can swap the dress for her, and they keep the dress as a sample and get her a different one?
Best of luck with this....I'm dealing with three BMs whose dresses don't fit, so I know all about this.

I told her to go to a seamstress and see what they say, and then maybe we can order more fabric. I just know its going to be a money issue, it took her until now to send me the money for the first dress. I added the dress in my album, its the one on the right, style 1746.

i would call the store and see what they suggest
I am sure this is not the first time this has happened.
maybe they can save some fabric from one of the other dresses? will there be extra fabric from the hem??

the same thing happened with my MOH. she ordered a bigger size, but the dress wasn't even close to fitting.
so, the bridal salon ordered extra fabric from the designer (alvina valenta) and they are adding to the dress to make it fit.
in the end it will look very close, but will be A line, whereas the rest are more fluted.

Re: need pregnant BM advice
I had ordered a dress for a friends wedding that despite not gaining ANY weight it didnt fit. I recommend seeing if they can take some material from the hem and putting it in as a panel. That is what I had done!

I know this is not helping but, I love the dress! Csn you give me the info on it? Good luck with everything. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant at my sister's wedding but we knew enough in advance so we ordered a huge dress in an extra long so they had plenty of material to work with. It came out beautiful.

one of my BMs was also pregnant and her dress didn't fit ... she had the top turned into a corset and it fit fine.
good luck!

Re: need pregnant BM advice
Personally, I would say that it is her problem, if the dress doesnt fit and she cant work it out, then she cant be in the wedding party. You really dont need that kind of stress. In the alternative, maybe you can Email your other BMs to see if they have extra material from hemming their dresses. If someone takes theirs up alot it would work to add a panell to the side of the pregnant BMs dress near the belly.

Re: need pregnant BM advice
You'll have to talk to whoever is doing the alterations. Besides getting a maternity dress the only thing they can do is add extra fabric. A dress like that has very little allowance for a belly (as opposed to an empire wasted flowy dress).

Re: need pregnant BM advice
my sister was 8.5 months pregnant at my wedding! is there any way the store was able to rush deliver a bigger size for her? we were able to rush deliver her a new size for a small fee, but it was worth it.

Re: need pregnant BM advice
ask if the store can order extra fabric and use it to alter the dress. This will def be cheaper that getting a new dress

I would flat out ask her what she wants to do.. and take it from there.

I would take it to a seamstress so she can tell you what she can do. Any good seamstress can fix that, however, it might cost as much as buying a new dress. That is a tough call. Maybe go half way in on it with her and try and sell the other one?
