Day trip - which is better? Nantucket or Martha's Vinyard? We're ferrying it to either one. Or should we do both?

I like both - but Martha's Vineyard is kinda... overdone? I am not sure that is the word I am looking for. I preferred the kind of tourists that were in Nantucket to the one's in MV.

I think you should go to the Poconos. Rent one of those rooms with the champagne glass hot tubs. I think they are HILARIOUS.
I'm so skeevatzed by the 'love tubs'. I imagine that a family of crabs lives in each one.

even though they filmed 'One Crazy Summer' in Nantucket. I am torn.

I have never been to any of these places. I am partial to Nantucket because... there once was a man from Nantucket....
It is a possibility that we will go though this summer, it's on the short list. So tell me where you are staying and all the details so I can copy. (Jess too)

We're heading to Cape Cod for our babymoon in August and are staying at the High Pointe Inn B&B in Barnstable...we're definitely doing Martha's Vineyard day trip.

Well, I have never been to Nantucket....but we LOVED Martha's Vineyard.
I've heard (I'm living in Boston right now....so I know a bunch of people who vacation every year out there), that nantucket is a lot more 'snooty' than MV....
But again, I haven't gone to Nantucket, so I can't speak from my own experience.

I'm totally not looking for snooty - the man's been to both so he's leaving EVERYTHING up to me (much like the wedding planning, but I'm not totally still bitter).
It was hard to find anything for those dates for some reason.

Very nice place...yeah it was ridiculously hard to find a nice place (and decently priced) for any of the dates during the summer...

OK- this is my area of expertise. I grew up spending my summers in Cape Cod. Hyannis, specifically. I lived on Martha's Vinyard for a few months maybe... 5 years ago.
nantucket is better.- cozier. Martha's Vinyard is great, but you need a car to really experience it. Provincetown is AWESOME and pretty. and gay. Worth a day trip though. Sandwich is just too cute. You are going to have a blast. Let me know if you want restaurant recs.
