Maybe (hopefully) this is me being a control freak but I mailed the invitations on August 1st. I bribed the postal clerks with doughnuts so they would let me hand cancel my invitations. I hand cancelled each one and triple checked the addresses and stamps. It was after 5 pm so the date on the cancellation was August 2nd. I thought I covered all the bases to ensure the most efficient and expedient delivery of the invitations. As of yesterday, unfortunately only 1/2 of the Long Island guests have received their invitations and 2 of the people who haven't received them are fh and myself (yes we invited ourselves ). We mailed them from our local post office and still haven't received them! I haven't heard of anyone outside of Long Island receiving them and I'm really starting to worry.

Re: Need Reassurance About the US Postal Service
Dont worry about it yet. I had sent 3 invites to the same address. The first one came on a seperate day as the other two. The mail can be funny sometimes.

Just think, our credit card bills always seem to be delivered month after month, I am sure your invites will get to the right places as well.

Re: Need Reassurance About the US Postal Service
I wouldnt put any amount of faith in a federal office in this regime.
I hand cancelled my own invitations. I sent one to DH and one to myself as well. He got his the next day, I got mine a week later. I also sent two invitations to the same out of state address. One cousin got his and his mother didnt get hers.
Don't go crazy over this. It is something entirely out of your control now. Worst case scenario is that you will have to make follow up calls when your RSVP date gets closer.

Re: Need Reassurance About the US Postal Service
Getting to my guests was no problem, most had it the next day on Long Island.
Getting BACK to us is a whole other situation, my neighbors have returned some to us, and the mailman made a separate trip to my house return some that went astray. We're still waiting for 60 people and the response day is Monday. I think some are lost.

Re: Need Reassurance About the US Postal Service
Well, I already told you my story - I mailed mine the MORNING of July 28th. I'm getting scattered reports of people not getting them... Everyone keeps telling me not to worry.... I guess I'll be calling people who don't RSVP and see how many didn't get the invite at all....
