Need Recommendation for Grooms Cake Bakery

Looking for a bakery that makes tasty specialty cakes. FH is a big fan of Star Trek, so I was hoping to find a bakery that can make a cake in the shape of the Enterprise, but I'm not from here so I don't know any bakeries. Please help. TIA!

This is a description I found online but it seems very outdated... I think today it's just a fun cake for the groom, sometimes at the reception, sometimes at the rehearsal dinner, or at least that's how I was using the idea, and how I've seen other people adapt it today.

The Groom's Cake

The groom's cake is a smaller cake that is served at the wedding reception. Young women (unmarried) will want to take a piece of the groom's cake home to place under their pillows and the old wive's tale says 'they will marry whomever they dream of that night.'

We recommend that the groom's mother bake the groom's cake herself. It can be anything from fruitcake to chocolate...whatever the groom loves. You may want to encourage the bride to wrap small slices of the groom's cake in tin foil, wrapped around with net and tied with a nice bow as a favor to be passed out at the reception. Include a little note with each piece of cake explaining the 'old wive's tale.'

I'm looking to do the same thing. FH is a trek-y.

I'm going to Audrey's. As soon as I make the time to get down there! I e-mailed the baker and he got back to me, but asked that I find a picture of the enterprise.

I highly suggest Audreys. They make all of the cakes, desserts etc for Land's End and Flower Fields (2 highly regarded catering facilities on LI) as well as many catering facilities in Manhattan.

The manager is also a very good friend of mine. He made my engagement party cake, is making my wedding cake, and we eat the pastries all of the time. He also made a friend's goom cake (a soccer ball) and people still rave about it three years later. He creates all types of cakes.....check him out.....

This is the groom's cake that Thomas at Audrey's made for me and my DH.

They are a vendor on LIW, so you can find all their contact info on the vendors page.
