After a full weekend of visiting RHs (11 of them! never knew how tired I'd be)...my fiance and I have narrowed down to two places. :)
I'd really appreciate it if any of you who have been to weddings to these places or have been married then to FM me with your thoughts on food, service, likes, dislikes. :) We're really torn on it right now and can't decide.
The two places are:
Woodbury Country Club and Crest Hollow Country Club
We knew there were chances of woodbury closing down later but they assured us it won't happen any earlier than mid-2010..
One of the concerns we had abuot crest hollow was that they wouldn't guarantee us the exact cocktail hour space (did any of you encounter that?) Other than that, the rooms and grounds were gorgeous.
Both places have 2-3 events at the same time - if any of you were there, can you also speak to if you felt like you ran into other bridal parties, etc?
Thanks so much!!!! Really appreciate it!! :)
We're sooo excited we may have a place soon! :)

I had a food tasting at the cresthollow and thought the food was amazing. When we looked there, I also didnt like that you couldnt choose your CH room though.

I didn't like the crest hollow at all, but i did have my prom at the woodbury country club and loved it. I just would be absolutely certain that they will be around for your wedding. The last thing you need it to have all of your vendors booked and details arranged to have to scramble for a new location.

crest hollow is a wedding mill. I've been there 2x's for weddings and for the prom last year. Food is horrible and very low end.
We had our end of year party at Woodbury and it is very nicely done and much more elegant.
Hands down Woodbury CC.
Did you also check out Fox Hollow..along the same lines but they give you a little more for your money.

A friend of mine got married at WCC and it was nice. The food was pretty good too.... my only complaint was that like EVERY PICTURE taken was taken in front of some banister...there were really no nice places for pics inside...

are you sure that wcc will still be open? When i started looking i called them about my wedding (july 2010), and they said that they were not going to be open at that point..
i would make sure/be very careful-how horrible that would be!

Wow....I've never heard such bad things about Crest Hollow!!! I've always heard the food was great...
I'm having my cocktail hour outside, if it rains we get moved inside...I liked all the rooms so if we have to move it won't make a difference where we end up...
Not sure about being low end and a wedding mill issues....
ETA: This post made me kinda sad...I know everyone is entitled to their opinions but please remember that there are nicer ways to state what you think. There are lots of people who booked their weddings at Crest Hollow on this site, please be mindful of that.

How big is your wedding?
Of your choices, I would go with Woodbury....also check out Fox Hollow. I wont comment on Crest Hollow because I don't want to offend anyone, I've been to 2 weddings there.

Ive been to both weddings there. I would go with WBCC because it look more newer.
Edited to say check out Fox Hollow as well if you cant make up your mind between the 2 you listed. I went to a wedding at FH recently and it was awesome.

Re: Need RH advice - down to last 2!
I never looked at Woodbury but CHCC was our second-choice venue (we went with our first choice because they pretty much matched the price for us). We were going to get a great deal at CHCC (but this was for a winter, non-Saturday wedding) - 100 person minimum but at $61 pp, included full sit down dinner, CH, cake, etc. the package price was really great and FH had been to some events there in the past.
Do a search in the bride's review section for each place! Someone might consider something a negative about a place, but you might actually consider it to be a positive. Do you care about a room being 'newer' looking, especially if one place is willing to drop the price a bit or give you a lower minimum? All of these factors are to be decided by you as an individual.
For what its worth, when I went the CHCC to check it out and talk about pricing there was a wedding going on. The bathrooms were spotless, a pianist was playing as the guests arrived for the CH (that was part of my package too), and as I went to a room that was empty we passed by the open door of a room that was having the CH and it looked AWESOME (I didn't want to peek in too much though because I wasn't a guest and I wasn't dressed up!). We also saw a ballroom on the first floor that they were in the process of setting up for the reception, and everything was nice and orderly.

I think this was a very insensitive review. You could have nicely stated that CHCH isnt your style, but to call it low end is very subjective. I'm sure there are people that would think your RH is low end. I dont mean to start drama, but you should think twice before bashing a RH that a ton of girls are in love with.

HAHA! Me too! I remember the place being really pretty and the food being good. But this was about 10 years ago.
