Need some advice

Need some advice

My ceremony is at 11:30 am, and my cocktail hour is from 12-1. I know there is no way I am going to be able to even peek my head into my cocktail hour, which I really wanted to do

Has anyone ever heard of taking pictures AFTER the reception? I definately dont want to before. I guess I am just going to have to suck it up and miss the CH?

It seems as if you're really cutting it close. How long will your ceremony be? Let's assume 30 minutes. That means you finish at 12. That gives you only 1 hour (and that's if you get out in 30 minutes) to take pictures. If you're not seeing the groom prior to the ceremony this will be the time that you take all your pictures together, plus the family ones, bridal party ones......I think you should give yourself more time, plus a little cushion just in case anything goes wrong. Lord knows that you don't want to be stressed about pictures or miss parts of your reception. Is there anyway to move the ceremony up or the reception down? If not, then just make sure that you touch up your makeup and that your hair stays up or curled or whatever.

I am also getting married at 11:30 and the reception starts at 12 (I think) When Talking to the photographers they really urged me to do pic before the ceremony, because 1 hour really isn't enough time, and I don't want to miss my CH either, so I am going to just suck it up and see my FI before, no big deal, I'll get over it, and it still will be a surprise, just not everyone will see our reactions when we see each other for the first time, and I hope it will relax me a little bit too!

I am in the same situation. My ceremony is also at 11:30am followed by the CH. We are thinking to ask our banquest manager to push our ceremony back to 11am and increase our CH to 1 1/2 hours. Therefore, the ceremony will be over by 11:30. BP, FH and I will go to CH for a few minutes and nibble on some food and drinks for about 10 to 15 minutes. THen we will leave to go take pics while our guests can then be directed into the CH to enjoy and we will be back by 1pm from Old Westbury Gardens just in time for the reception.

Hey, no one said that the madness would end on the wedding day. It is the cumilation of all of the planning. So I am ready and preparing myself that the few bits of food that I get to eat during the CH will be the only food I may have for the day.

Hope my suggestion gives you something to think about.

We are taking pics BEFORE for that same reason - to ENJOY the wedding.

Re: Need some advice

In my faith (Judaism) there is no rule/superstition about seeing the groom seeing the bride before they walk down the aisle. The Jewish marriage license (Ketubah) has to be signed in front of witnesses and a Rabbi BEFORE the ceremony begins. So the groom HAS to see the bride before hand in which case, all of the posed pictures are taken at that point - pictures of the actual signing are taken as a sweet memory. Right after the ceremony, a Jewish bride and groom are supposed to break bread alone (perhaps a glass of wine and a snack in the bridal room) as a symbol of their first meal as husband and wife. After that, they are free to join the cocktail hour to greet all of their guests. This way that can dance all night!!!! That's my plan!

We're doing photographs of just the guys and just the girls, and just the bridal party beforehand.

The only ones we're doing after the ceremony are of Kev and I, and then the whole bp.

I'm a Jewish bride also. I was told that in those few minutes that the bride and groom spend alone after the ceremony, they are supposed to do more than break bread!!!! LOL.

I also plan to see FH before the ceremony.

Why couldn't you take a some pictures during CH and the rest after the reception. It will still be light out.

according to the post above mine. If you are suppose to do more after the reception than break bread. I wouldn't break tradition.

Our wedding is at 3pm and our CH is from 3:30 - 4:30. So we have 1 one hour to take our posed photos as a couple. Howver, we are taking photos sepratately before the ceremony. So all of the BP photos will be done before.

Thats what we plan on doing. If you wait till after, you might not feel as good. Like your hair/makeup might be a little messy from getting jiggy on the dance floor!!!
