Wow...I'm so sorry. It's hard to say how you'll feel at that time. I wouldn't think about that part yet. Worry about that when the time comes. You both may feel differently at that time. I'm so sorry you both have to go through with this at this time or any. Especially for you too being you've already seen your Mother pass away with cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with you, FH and his family.

I am so so sorry that you are going through this As some people suggested, I would probably have a small ceremony right now - even if it's next to her hospital bed. It sounds like you have a wonderful relationship with her and I think it would mean a lot to all of you to get married when she can still be there and be part of it. Depending on how you and your FH feel, I'd prob still go through with the wedding in 36 days. My guess is, she probably wouldn't be able to be there, even if she is still with all of you. You may want to even get up and say something about what you did before hand so she could share in it and how now you want to renew the vows for everyone else. I am sending so much love and prayers to all of you.

So sorry to hear that you are going through this. I do agree with some of the girls though if your FI says he feels she would want you to go through with it when you have it planned, I would do it. She will be with you on your day no matter what happens.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, your FH and family. It is very rough to make a desision right now. BUT maybe his mom wants this for you and her son. It would be a nice occasion. You can dedicate a song to her and have everyone dance. I have been to a wedding were they did that. You could dedicate to both moms.
Again my thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about what you are going through...my friend's FMIL passed away a few months ago and they are getting married this weekend. They knew for a while that she had very little time left but decided not to move up their wedding because they knew that this is what his mom would have wanted...
I think you should keep what you have planned....my prayers are with you

Re: Need some advice...
I am really sorry to read about your FMIL. I am almost in the same situation as you. My grandmother is very ill. I have always been very close to my grandmother and she always said that she wanted to see me marries before she died.
She is 85 years old and had hip replacement surgery in April. After the surgery, she went into renal failure and we were looking for a hospice to place her in.
We found a nursing home for her and she was improving and it looked like she would be able to attend the ceremony. Last Friday we found out that her femur bone was broken in two places on the same side of the first surgery. We are not to sure if she will be able to handle the second surgery or if she does will be able to attend the wedding.
I know what you mean about do your still have the wedding. All of my family and FH says that whatever happens is that we go forward. That is what my grandmother wants and I bet so does your FMIL.
I will keep her in my prayers.

Re: Need some advice...
First let me say that I am so sorry.
You should go through with the wedding. If she is still alive she will be so excited that her son married the perfect woman. And if she passes she will have wanted to celebrate your marriage. Do it for her.
My FI and I got engaged a week after his grandmother passed away. While not as momentous as a wedding day, we will always remember the loss that we suffered during that time. But I don't look at it that way. My FI grandmother loved me, and I know she would not want us to put off the engagement. It was hard, but we were able to celebrate knowing how happy she would have been. As hard as it is, life goes on. Sometimes in times of such sadness, something as wonderful as two people in love can make things a little better.
Celebrate your love and her life.

I'm really sorry to hear that you are going through this.
If it were me, I would go on with the wedding - I'm sure that's what FMIL would've wanted. And, I'd trust FH that he knows what she would've wanted.
In fact, this happened to one of my best friends. They had a 4-month engagement so that her FH's grandfather would be able to attend. He was very sick and FH and him were very close, but he missed it by days - his grandfather died the week of the wedding. They couldn't even have the programs changed in time, it was so close. I know it was very difficult for them, but they knew that FH's grandfather would've wanted them to go on, and they did. It was still their day, and I've never seen them happier. I think they knew he was watching over them, and we all did too so it was hardly a cloud on the day.
