Ok So I need some advice because I am seriously driving myself crazy and may spend a WHOLE lot of money I dont have. So I am getting married in Riverhead and I live in Queens. I am looking for someone to come and do my hair and makeup and my mom's hair and makeup, and possibly my cousin's hair and my aunt's hair for a reasonable price. I already went for a trial with one of the vendors on here and 100.00 later I was really not too happy. So now I am back to square one. I have about four people in mind for makeup who gave me a good price: Angel eyes, Karen W., Mya from cosmetic artistry, and Fresh face forward. Has anyone used any one of these??? For hair I only really have : Hair by Diana, and Mya again. Do you think it is better to have one person for hair and one person for makeup or one person who does both?? Also someone recommended Robert James Salon in Riverhead- the only problem is that while the salon is close to my hotel where i will be getting ready it is really really far for me to go for a trial and with gas prices-- we all know what i mean. So I guess my question is- Which one do I choose, do I spend all this money to try them all or do I drive to the salon in Riverhead??? I really really dont know what to do. PLEASE PLEASE Help!!

Crazy question but have you ever thought of asking the person you regularly go to about doing it? I have used the same person for years and they agreed to do all of ours... Of course since I have known her forever I also invited her to the wedding.

I dont have a regular stylist or makeup person. I only ever get my hair trimmed or blown out and I go wherever for that but thank you for the advice. I wish I had someone like that though it would be helpful.

i do not think it matters if you have one person do hair and another makeup or one person do both in the end it should be the same amount of money. i have found that many stylist and makeup artist that specialize in weddings and big events are very expensive and a regular salon person who does everything can do just as nice an updo and you can buy mac or any really good makeup and have someone or yourself do it for you with practice.. if money is an issue. then at least you can keep the makeup afterwards. if i were you - if the riverhead salon is most affordable. i'd make a day of going to riverhead- there is lots to do out there - get the trial and do other special things while your out so maybe the gas is not as much of a waste?

I agree, make the day at Riverhead. There is the Tanger Outlets and Splish Splash as well as the winerys or you can go out east for the day to Orient and/or take the ferry to the casinos. The beaches along the north shore are small but nice. There are some good restaurants also. Maybe you have other wedding arrangements that need to be done that same day?
