need some advice :)...got my hair colored- wwyd?

ok, so I got highlights about a month ago (went to someone new) and I really liked it! Last week I went back to her to get my roots touched up. She ran the color through all my hair the last 5-10 minutes. When she blew it out, my highlights were definately darkened AND my root color was very red compared to the rest of my hair! She said to give it a few washes and it will oxidize and some people get the really red roots (hot spots she called it???)
Well, it's a week later and I don't have the blonde highlights that I had before. I paid this $$ a month ago just so she could darken them?? I think I should call her and tell her- would you? I also don't want to pay again if she says to come in and she'll throw some more highlights in...
