FH and I kind of had a fight today but its something ive been saying all along. This huge wedding is what HE has wanted all along i wanted something small low key... so i compromised and gave in to what he wanted. HE was assuming that my parents would be helping which at the time they wanted to. But i KNEW it would only be a small amount but was totally gracious that it was anything at all. But i dont work full time and FH doesnt make a huge salary so i wasnt quite sure where he thought we were getting 30k from for this wedding that i think is silly. Of course every little girl and big girl dreams of these amazingly perfect wedding but i knew there had to be a catch to mine. well 5 months after booking the hall i really feel we wont be able to afford it. especially what help we were getting from my parents we may not get now that my dad has had a heart attack and has lost his job (not from having a heart attack just the business is closing) and i refuse to put the stress of my wedding on his shoulders. WHAT DO I DO???
cancel and hope that we get all our money back? or hang out a little while and pray that things will change? im jsut really upset and not quite sure what to do since FH and I's views are clearly different. PLEASE HELP!

FM'd you....but here's the official info for you or anyone else interested:
if you wish to cancel a hall that is in SUFFOLK county ONLY (this law doesn't apply to nassau, sorry ladies, no law for that one), it must be done 6 months or more before your wedding date, and you may receive all but $100 back, no matter what your contract states.
that link has info on the subject, as well as the link to the actual law information. HTH!

Re: need some advice? (kinda long)
I'm sorry this is happening to you. Money is a terrible thing to have to stress about whenplanning a wedding, which is already stressful! Fortunately, you can always do something small now and try to have a big wedding to renew your vows in the future. This must be heartbreaking for you, especially since you have the stress of your father, etc. Weddings are important because they mark the beginning of our new lives, together with our future husbands, but it should be something you can enjoy. Call the wedding hall and see what their refund policy is. Maybe they can switch you to another night or a different season and you can save money that way? Hang in there

Re: need some advice? (kinda long)
thanks for your kind words... i spoke with my parents about my concerns and they understand but dont want to see me upset or do something drastic now and be unhappy later on... they said wait a little while and see what happens! so thats what we are doing!
